'It’s very moving': Jennifer Lopez says Brie Larson’s praise at Golden Globes ‘brings tears to my eyes’

The 'Lessons in Chemistry' actress approached Lopez and told her how much she admired her and how her film 'Selena' inspired her to become an actor.

Jennifer Lopez was moved to tears by Brie Larson’s heartfelt words at the 2024 Golden Globes Awards on Sunday, January, 7.
Lopez, 54, shared her reaction to the touching moment in an interview on Apple Music 1.
“It brings tears to my eyes now because it’s very moving, because you give your heart and soul to this when you’re an artist,” she said.
She also recalled how she felt the same way when she watched Rita Moreno in 'West Side Story' as a young girl.
“I saw myself, and I saw the little girl, and to think that I did that for somebody was really, really overwhelming,” she said.
“It was a very kind thing that she did, and it meant a lot to me, probably even more than it did to her," she said, People reports.
What transpired between Jennifer Lopez and Brie Larson?
The viral exchange between the two stars happened on the red carpet, where Larson, 33, spotted Lopez standing behind her during an interview with ET.
“Oh my God. I’m gonna cry,” Larson said as she closed her eyes. “I can’t deal with JLo," she added.
She then introduced herself to Lopez and gushed over her career. “You mean so much to me,” Larson told Lopez.
“I saw Selena and it made me want to be an actor. And you’ve always meant so much to me,” she said of Lopez’s 1997 film.
Lopez was visibly touched by Larson’s words and responded, “Oh my God, don’t make me cry.” The two women hugged and Larson called the encounter “a dream” of hers. She also praised Lopez’s work ethic and joked that she needed a shot of tequila after the emotional moment.
Lopez, who was nominated for best performance by an actress in a motion picture - musical or comedy for 'Marry Me', said she "had just done one herself." She then waved to Larson’s mother, who was also on the red carpet.
