CHILLICOTHE, MISSOURI: Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was convicted of killing her abusive mother Dee Dee Blanchard in 2015, is starting a new chapter in her life with her husband Ryan Anderson.

The 32-year-old, who was released from prison on December 28, 2023, after serving 85 percent of her 10-year sentence, spoke to People about the challenges and joys of living with a man for the first time.

Gypsy Rose, who suffered years of abuse and manipulation by her mother who made her believe she had various illnesses and disabilities, said she was excited to live with her husband whom she married in 2019 while still in prison.

However, she also admitted that she still has some learning to do about the world and herself. “I’ve never lived with a man,” she told People, adding “I grew up with a mom, so I didn’t even grow up with a dad in the house. So I’m like, ‘I don’t even know what it’s like to live with a man.’”

“Gypsy’s never been on a real date where you go and sit somewhere and eat and go to a movie or do whatever,” Ryan, who met Gypsy Rose online in 2018, said.

“It’s going to be a whirlwind and there’ll be a lot of attention,” he added, referring to the media and public interest in Gypsy Rose’s story which was dramatized in the Hulu series 'The Act.' Ryan, who described himself as a very "private person", said he is still "very nervous about it."

Gypsy Rose, who posted her “first selfie of freedom” on Instagram after her release, previously said she was in love with Ryan and wanted to have children with him one day.

They also shared a New Year's kiss and other PDA pictures on Instagram which has garnered almost six million followers. The couple is focused on maintaining their closeness despite the attention coming their way.

 

“Now it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, you’re in the public eye now — go out there and experience it,’” said Anderson.

“But we’ve decided that every night, we’re going to lay in bed, we’re going to talk to each other and check on each other and see how we’re doing, because it is going to be crazy for a minute.”
