Jaime King forced to leave $10K-a-month LA rental amid financial struggles and custody loss

HOLLYWOOD HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Jaime King has vacated her $10,000-a-month rental home in Los Angeles after losing custody of her two sons, James, 11, and Leo, nine, to ex-husband Kyle Newman.
The actress had been residing in the Hollywood Hills property since April 2023 but recently relocated to a more affordable home, according to a report by The US Sun.

Photos obtained by the outlet show various pieces of furniture, including a wooden daybed, a mattress, a white table, a gray trunk, and a small trampoline, placed near garbage cans outside the property.
According to a source, King moved out in an effort to “downsize” and “find somewhere cheaper” as financial troubles took a toll.
Financial struggles and legal battles drain Jaime King's resources

King’s ongoing financial struggles have been exacerbated by legal battles and professional setbacks.
“She has been struggling with her finances for years now after some failed film ventures, but the custody fight and having to fight all the accusations made against her in court drained her bank accounts,” a source told The US Sun.
The actress is reportedly “shattered” after losing physical custody of her children.
“She is taking it very hard, to say the least. She has had demons she’s been battling for decades, but her recent troubles have been exasperated by her family troubles, her career struggling, and financial stress,” the insider added.

Earlier this week, a judge ruled that King and Newman will share legal custody of their children, but Newman will retain sole physical custody and final decision-making rights.
King has been granted supervised visitation rights, limited to three times per week.
Her custody loss follows her failure to complete a six-month drug and alcohol program, which included weekly testing, a 26-week parenting course, and both individual and conjoint counseling sessions with her children.
Allegations of substance abuse and custody dispute timeline
Kyle Newman initially filed for sole custody in October 2024, reportedly after discovering Jaime King “strung out” and “drunk” while caring for James and Leo, according to Page Six.
The children’s godmother, pop star Taylor Swift, has not commented publicly on the situation.

"Kyle is dealing with a serious situation affecting the safety and well-being of his children and asks for privacy for his children during this difficult process,” Newman’s attorney, Garry M Gekht, stated at the time.
The former couple endured a protracted legal battle over custody and finances following King’s 2020 divorce filing, which ended their 13-year marriage.
They ultimately settled their divorce in 2023 and were reportedly on amicable terms at that time.
