LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Doogie Howser, MD, star James B Sikking died of Dementia at the age of 90.

The prolific actor died at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, July 13, his publicist Cynthia Snyder confirmed.

“In a remarkable career, Sikking’s wonderfully exciting face gave us drama, comedy, tragedy and hilarious farse. His career spanned over six decades in television, film and on stage,” Snyder said in a statement.

“His talent, integrity and imagination intrigued and delighted audiences,” he added.

James B Sikking had a successful TV career

During his illustrious career, Sikking earned an Emmy nomination in 1984 for his performance in the ‘Hill Street Blues’ as SWAT leader Lt Howard Hunter and appeared in several other hit shows.

It includes Brooklyn South, Bonanza, Starsky & Hutch, The Rockford Files, Turnabout, General Hospital and Curb Your Enthusiasm, reports Deadline.

On the silver screen, Sikking left his mark too with movies like 'Von Ryan’s Express,' 'Elvis Presley in Charro,' 'Ordinary People,' 'Scorpio,' 'Star Trek III: The Search for Spock,' 'The Pelican Brief,' 'Fever Pitch,' and 'Made of Honor.'

Sikking was named after author James Barrie. “It seemed a perfect choice. There is a bit of Peter Pan in James… his sense of imagination appeared whether playing roles on stage or screen,” said Snyder.

Internet paid their tribute to Sikking and recalled his incredible era. Many shared their take on his popular television shows which is still being enjoyed by movie lovers.

One fan remembered Sikking's acting and wrote on X, "Those were the days when America turned out some wonderful police dramas."

RIP James, thanks for all the memories. Hill Street Blues was a huge part of my cultural life in the 1980s. Magnificent show and Howard was a great character. So many other great roles, Outland, Narrow Margin, Star Chamber and more" wrote another fan.

A user wrote, "Great versatile actor; his Howard Hunter character was a high point in HSB…"

"Captain Styles of the starship Excelsior in "Star Trek III". Similar character to Hunter but with less humor," another said.
