NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Political strategist James Carville has said former President Joe Biden transitioned from being the "titan" of US history to a "sad" figure after he delayed dropping out of the 2024 presidential election.

During the May 22 episode of his podcast 'Politics War Room', Carville said that Biden destroyed his legacy by choosing to stay in the race for as long as he did, per Fox News.

Carville said during the podcast, "I cannot begin to express how tragic this is," as he went on to speak about the former president.

He praised the former POTUS' legacy and said, "He's one of the most accomplished Americans" since World War II.

"If you just look at what he did as chairman of the Judiciary, Foreign Relations, Vice President, President, and you look at the tragedies of his life and distress that he's exhibited, and he's a well-liked, very admirable person, and he made one colossal mistake, and the Democrats made a colossal mistake by going along with it," Carville said.

He added, "And that is staying in the race until July 21, 2024. And it breaks my heart. It's just so sad."

Interestingly, Biden's decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race has faced renewed scrutiny in the media recently.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper co-authored a new book titled 'Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again', about the top aides and allies' efforts to hide the truth about Biden's mental and physical health, per Fox News.

Meanwhile, Carville said during the podcast, "Joe Biden on New Year's Day of 2024 stood as a titan of modern American history. He's a man that deserved everything that we could give him other than reelection."

Moreover, he added that reporters will continue to expose more of what happened behind the scenes of the Biden administration, per the outlet.

Carville said, "We pretty much know the parameters of what happened but there's plenty of specifics left. It's pretty much the saddest f***ing thing you could imagine."

Book reveals Joe Biden aides debated whether he would require wheelchair if re-elected in 2024

The book 'Original Sin' by Axios reporter Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper revealed that Joe Biden aides debated whether he would require a wheelchair if re-elected in 2024.

"Biden’s physical deterioration — most apparent in his halting walk — had become so severe that there were internal discussions about putting the president in a wheelchair, but they couldn’t do so until after the election," as per an excerpt first reported by Axios.

The authors wrote, "Given Biden’s age, [his physician Kevin O’Connor] also privately said that if he had another bad fall, a wheelchair might be necessary for what could be a difficult recovery."

The book also revealed some embarrassing pictures of Biden’s daily stamina. As per Tapper and Thompson, the former president had a pretty limited window in which he could operate at full capacity.

Biden reportedly had a six-hour window – from 10 am to 4 pm – where he was effective. Outside of that window, he became "fatigued" and prone to "verbal miscues", according to the book.
