LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: James Corden candidly spoke about his life after leaving the 'The Late Late Show' and how his transition from Los Angeles to his native UK has not been smooth.

During his recent appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' on Tuesday, April 2, Corden gave an update on his relocation along with his family following his exit from the CBS program in April 2023.

James Corden says relocating to the UK has been an 'adjustment'

In his conversation with host Jimmy Kimmel, the 45-year-old talk show host admitted that it has been an "adjustment" since his exit from the show.

"You don’t understand how institutionalized you are. It’s extraordinary. But it’s like, you’re institutionalized in a world where you get a standing ovation at the end of every day," he said.

"And that is — what I’ve realized — is it’s really bad for you," Corden said of the transition to his native place.

The comedian shared that while people in his native UK are "very nice", they do not seem to believe his voluntary exit from the 'The Late Late Show'.

“No one believes that I wasn’t fired. I’ll be in a pub or something and people will be like, oh yeah…. They’ll be like, ‘So why’d you come back?’ and I’ll be like, ‘Oh, 'cause Max has finished 6th grade and we really wanted him to have a relationship with his grandparents,’” Corden recalled.

"And people will honestly be like, ‘You don’t have to give me that b******t. It’s fine, mate. If you got fired, you got fired,’” he said.

What is James Corden doing now?

After he left 'The Late Late Show', Corden began a radio show on SiriusXM titled 'This Life of Mine with James Corden.'

Reflecting on the response he gets after people do not believe he left the talk show, he said, "Nobody thinks you would ever leave what is, let’s be honest, a cushy existence."

Kimmel then asked Corden to get a letter from CBS to officially state that it was a voluntary exit and that he was not fired.

“I would, except they don’t know what CBS is," Corden replied, according to People.

"So they’ll go, ‘Well, that’s not a real thing.’ And then I have to tell them what the show was, and they’ll go, ‘Hang on, it was on at 12:30 at night? That’s a ridiculous time to put a TV show on,’” he added.
