Jamie Foxx gets stitches after being 'hit' in mouth by glass during dispute at birthday dinner
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor Jamie Foxx got involved in an altercation during his birthday dinner on Friday, December 13, at the famed establishment of Mr Chow in Los Angeles, reported TMZ.
According to the publication, police received a report of a fight inside the restaurant at around 10 pm. A witness shared that customers at another table were rude to Foxx, 57, who asked them to stop as he was with his family. At that point, someone at the table threw a glass at him that hit him in the face.
Statement from Jamie Foxx's spokesperson
Later in the evening, a spokesperson for the 'Just Mercy' star shared a statement explaining, "Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. He had to get stitches and is recovering."
"The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands,” they added.
A press release was shared by the Beverly Hills Police Department which stated that law enforcement officials were called to Mr Chow at 10.06 pm on Friday for a reported assault with a deadly weapon.
Officials state that while the report of the assault was "unfounded," it was confirmed that the incident “involved a physical altercation between parties.”
A report was submitted documenting batter and no arrests have been made. According to Page Six, the incident is still under investigation.
Jamie Foxx's recent health scare
In his Netflix special 'Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...' which was released on December 10, the actor opened up about the mysterious illness that left him hospitalized last year and with no memory of 20 days from April to May 2023.
Foxx stated that he suffered "a brain bleed that led to a stroke" at the time. While he did not remember much, he went into details of what he did, how he found humor in his recovery, and the constant support of his family, including his daughters, Corinne Foxx and Anelise Bishop, and sister Deidra Dixon.
According to Today, Foxx's mantra through much of the special was: "If I can stay funny, I can stay alive."
