WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) launched a strong rebuttal against Representative Chip Roy (R-Texas) who dismissed Vice President Kamala Harris as a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) hire.

During her appearance on MSNBC's 'TheReidOut' on Monday, July 8, Crockett said, “I want people to listen to them, if you just listen to what they say, it will tell you everything that you need to know."

Firing back at Chip Roy's DEI hire comments, Crockett said, “Number one, you can obviously see that he’s ignorant as all get out,” she continued.

“And number two, you can see that he wishes he had half the competency of Vice President Kamala Harris," she added.

Speaking to Fox Business on Monday, July 8, Roy expressed his skepticism about Democrats pushing President Joe Biden to step down amid concerns about his capability to serve another four-year term following his shaky debate performance against Donald Trump on June 27.

“I don’t think they [Democrats] can. They’re in a box,” said Roy.

“They are in a box where they’ve got to choose between a mentally incompetent president and a DEI vice president. And they know that they’re gonna be facing a problem either way," he added.

Accusing Roy of ignorance regarding DEI principles, Crockett responded, “Don’t talk to me about what DEI hire looks like because we know that you have never engaged in diversity, equity, or inclusion when it came to your office."

“So, we know that you don’t know anything about hiring diversity,” she continued.

Extending her critique, Crockett further condemned Republican leadership in Florida and Texas.

The Texas Democrat urged them to “come up with actual policies, instead of going after people because of how they look or how they were born.”

“Instead, they need to focus on taking care of the American people, which means that you’re going to take care of people other than just white folk,” she added.

Kamala Harris' name surfaces as a potential presidential candidate

Amidst the ongoing concerns about Biden's candidacy, Kamala Harris' name has surfaced as a potential replacement for Biden if he decides to quit the 2024 race.

However, despite the pressures, Biden has reaffirmed his intend to run and challenge Trump in the upcoming November election.

In a letter to congressional Democrats on Monday, July 8, the president rejected calls to withdraw his candidacy and urged them to unite behind his reelection campaign.

Harris has also expressed her support for Biden's bid to serve a second term, making her stance clear last week, according to The Hill.
