SKOWHEGAN, MAINE: A Maine courtroom brawl broke out when the brother of a woman who had been stabbed almost 100 times attacked the man who had been found guilty of killing his sister.

Jason Servil, 20, was just given a 45-year prison term by a judge on Friday, April 12 for Alice 'Allie' Abbott's July 2022 death.

Alice Abbott's family believes Jason Servil 'deserves to die'

Abbott's brother left the courtroom gallery and crossed the bar to attack Servil, according to a Portland Press Herald report that was read aloud in court by the defense and prosecution teams. There was pandemonium.

A video of the incident showed the brother being subdued by a corrections officer using a Taser. Other family members tried to cross the line but were turned away by the police.

"He deserves to die,” a family member shouted over and over. According to the Press Herald, Abbott's mother, Alice Abbott, a white woman, frequently referred to Servil, a Black person, using a derogatory term.

Jason Servil and Alice Abbott briefly dated

With his handscuffed and orange jail jumpsuit on, Servil stayed unharmed and watched the brawl unfold in front of him. Abbott's brother was taken into custody by police, the Press Herald reported.

Maine Assistant Attorney General Bud Ellis, a nearly 40-year legal veteran, told the Press Herald that it was "unlike anything I have ever seen."

On July 16, 2022, at 5:39 am, a man who had spent the night on Abbott's parents' property called Skowhegan police to report an assault on the 900 block of Canaan Road, according to the Maine State Police at the time.

When the police arrived, they discovered that the caller had a head injury. Officials discovered Abbott dead. He was taken to the hospital by paramedics, but he made it through his wounds.

Authorities detained Servil on suspicion of murder later that day. According to the Press Herald, Servil and Abbott briefly dated before she ended things. In a fit of jealous rage, Servil fatally stabbed Abbott. January, he entered a guilty plea.
