Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt refute claim Joy Behar was offered Emmy-nominated role in 'Ted Lasso'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Did just Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt counteract Joy Behar’s claim about being approached for a role in ‘Ted Lasso’?
Sudeikis, Hunt, and the other members of ‘Ted Lasso’ recently attended the ‘Cast of Ted Lasso’ event in Los Angeles on Thursday, January 11, where they addressed ‘The View’ host’s claim that she was offered to play Ted Lasso’s mother in season three of the immensely popular drama.
As the moderator asked the stars whether Behar’s claim of being offered to play a role in ‘Ted Lasso’ was true, Sudeikis - who plays the eponymous character - replied in negative.
The 48-year-old actor replied, “I, no. Joy Behar from The View?”
Hunt later added, “Respectfully, it would be news to us. We just work there,” before Sudeikis added, “She's welcome to sit at the table,” per OK! Magazine.
'I don’t need to be in everything'
On Wednesday, January 10, Joy Behar attended the ‘Behind the Table’ podcast with ‘The View’ producer Brian Teta where she alleged she was offered to play the role of Ted Lasso’s mother in the third season of the show.
The role later went to the actress Becky Ann Baker, who received an Emmy nod for the same.
During the podcast, Teta said exuberantly, “You were contacted about the possibility to be on my favorite show of all time,” per Deadline.
He went on to explain, “You were dismissive of it because it would require you to spend your hiatus in London.”
Behar, however, blamed the 'hot' weather in London for her inability to sign up for the show.
The 81-year-old said, “It was too hot, you remember? There was a heat wave going on at that time, like, 100-degree weather, and I’d have to get on a plane and go in the middle of the heat? No.”
Behar claimed, “Listen, I’m a writer, I write my own stuff, I don’t care about other people’s stuff. I don’t need to be in everything.”
As Teta called ‘Ted Lasso’ “the hottest show on TV,” Behar quickly negated, “It was not the hottest show on TV,” before adding, “If they were doing it in the spring, I would’ve done it maybe, or in the fall, but not in the middle of the heat wave.”
Behar was not ready to sign up for ‘Ted Lasso’ even if that meant an Emmy nod for her. As Teta mentioned Baker’s Emmy nomination, Behar said, “Well, good for her,” and added, “Bravo.”
'Joy taken down once again'
After the bombshell revelation by Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, fans weren't too happy with Joy Behar for her claim.
One of the fans said, "Glad, probably wouldn’t have watched it if she was on it & then I’d have missed out on a great show."
