LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Joy Behar has revealed she did not take the Emmy-nominated role of Ted Lasso’s mother in ‘Ted Lasso’ season 3 because she could not stand London’s heat.

‘The View’ producer Brian Teta said on the ‘Behind the Table’ podcast, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, “You were contacted about the possibility to be on my favorite show of all time.”

He continued, “You were dismissive of it because it would require you to spend your hiatus in London.”

Joy Behar did not work in ‘Ted Lasso’ because of weather

To which, the 81-year-old television host replied, “It was too hot, you remember? There was a heat wave going on at that time, like, 100-degree weather, and I'd have to get on a plane and go in the middle of the heat? No.”

She further stated, “Listen, I'm a writer, I write my own stuff, I don't care about other people's stuff. I don't need to be in everything.”

Behar also mentioned that if the show’s creators “were doing it in the spring I would've done it maybe, or in the fall, but not in the middle of the heat wave.”

The role turned down by Behar was then done by Becky Ann Baker, who got nominated for an Emmy.

Joy Behar got Covid-19 in December last year

This came as Behar has received quite some reactions online after saying COVID-19 vaccines do not save you from the disease but save your life. She tested positive in December 2023 and also went on to leave ‘The View’ for some time.

The talk show’s moderator Whoopi Goldberg shared at the time, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, “Joy is out this week. You know why? She finally got Covid. Three years, four years in, it finally got her.”

Later after her recovery, Behar reportedly stated, “I have been boosted and boosted and boosted, so I got COVID. It does not prevent you from getting COVID, but you don't die from it,” which received negative reactions online.

‘She's out of touch with reality’

An X user tweeted, “Joy Behar mocks anti-vaxxers and then goes on to say: ‘I have been boosted and boosted and boosted, so I got COVID. It does not prevent you from getting COVID, but you don't die from it.’ Some people you just can’t help.”

Another user remarked, “I just got over Covid.. not boosted ever.. nobody informed me that I’m dead.”

The third one stated, “She's out of touch with reality. These celebrities pretend like they have a single clue how immunology or big pharma work, then she has the nerve to gaslight people for trusting their gut feeling that something's not right with society.”

The fourth user added, “If I had to get two vaccines and then 5 boosters for polio and still got polio, I'd have some questions.”
