NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Joy Behar was missing from the talk show for the final week that it aired before going on a holiday hiatus in mid-December. The reason for her absence was that she had tested positive for Covid-19.

Since going off television, 81-year-old Behar was seen for the first time on December 25, celebrating Christmas with former CNN host Don Lemon.

The 57-year-old acclaimed television journalist uploaded a picture on Instagram that showed him standing with his friends, including Behar, in front of a Christmas tree in his house. A cheerful Behar was seen smiling at the camera, dressed comfortably in a loosely fitted top, sweatpants, and slippers.

The post, which was captioned “Comfort and Joy” by Lemon, garnered over 10,100 likes in one day. Fans of both Behar and Lemon were delighted to see them together, as they missed them on their home screens.

When did Joy Behar take a break from 'The View'?

Behar was not seen on the daytime talk show since Monday, December 11, but this day was not taken into consideration since Monday happened to be her day off.

However, when she did not return the following day, co-host Whoopi Goldberg, 68, addressed the issue sitting at the hosts' table.

"Joy is out this week. You know why? She finally got Covid," stated the actress and comedian at the beginning of the December 12 broadcast, as the audience groaned audibly.

"Yup, three years, four years in, it finally got her," added Goldberg, as the other co-hosts joined in to joke that Behar would no longer be able to boast about her immune system after having dodged the virus for nearly four years.

Sara Haines, 46, quipped, "She can stop bragging now," to which Sunny Hostin, 55, chimed in, "About her special blood type."

Fans comment on The View's extended break

The final episode of 'The View' for 2023 aired on December 15. Since then, re-runs have been playing on television in place of the live show, which is set to return in January 2024, according to The Sun.

The extended break has earned the disapproval of fans, as they took to social media to vent.

"Yep just another week off. Like they just came off a long vacation they get way too much time off for what they make. So they will be gone till when Jan 2 now must be nice," commented a fan on a Reddit thread.

"I agree. They take a lot of time off haha," replied another user.

A third came up with a suggestion, saying, "I wish they would come up with a different way to fill the hour rather than reruns. Watching them discuss old news has me immediately switching channels. Maybe just put together clips of guests for the show instead of showing the hot topics section?"

About re-runs, another fan stated, "I wish they would re-run the older shows, not from this season, but back in the first few seasons before they became the majority hot topics."
