Jay Leno files for conservatorship over wife's Mavis' estate after she's diagnosed with Alzheimer's
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jay Leno is stepping up to take care of his wife’s affairs as he filed for conservatorship over his wife Mavis Leno’s estate.
On Friday, January 26, the 73-year-old comedian filed a petition to become the conservator of his wife Mavis’s estate, per TMZ.
Why has Jay Leno filed for a conservatorship?
The news outlet revealed that recently, Mavis has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease - which facilitates in memory loss and is one of the most common forms of Dementia.
Leno’s legal filing thus becomes a precautionary measure if Mavis becomes unable to manager her affairs.
While it is unclear when was Mavis diagnosed with Alzheimer’s the couple was last seen together in November 2023 during a comedy event in Los Angeles.
When did Jay Leno and Mavis Leno get married?
Jay leno and his then would be wife Mavis met in 1970s at the Comedy Store in west Hollywood. After dating for almost a decade, the couple tied the knot in 1980.
Jay Leno and Mavis remained childless throughout their life for which Mavis happily accepts the responsibility, per TMZ.
During an appearance on on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' in 2023, Leno shared that his secret to a long and successful marriage was to marry a "normal" person. He later said seriously, “I said always marry your conscience."
He added, “Marry the person you wish you could be, who is kind and maybe whatever fault you have, doesn’t haven’t hose faults. That’s worked out for me, so to me, I married the perfect person," per New York Post.
