Jay Leno sparks conspiracy theories over bruised face as Internet doubts his 'falling down hill' story
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jay Leno’s fans are ‘not buying’ the comedian’s reason for his bruised face.
The 74-year-old comedian recently sparkled wild speculations among his fans after he suffered bruises during a nasty fall that left him with discoloration on the left side of his face, an eyepatch, a broken wrist, and a missing fingernail.
On November 15, Leno was in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he took quite the tumble. Despite the comedian claiming that his significant bruises are from taking the fall, a section of the internet is diving deeper into the accident, giving rise to a wild conspiracy theory.
Several fans refused to take the incident as an accident, claiming that Leno - whose net worth is estimated to be $450 million - might have gotten entangled in a gambling debt, and become a victim of the loan sharks.
Jay Leno suffers a nasty fall, says he fell down from a steep hill
The ‘Grey Leno Show' host, known for his larger-than-life personality, battled his injuries to appear for a stand-up show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, over the weekend.
As he appeared at the Palace Theater in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, for his show, he described his fall in an interview with TMZ.
#JayLeno's such a badass, he did a comedy gig with an eye patch, a black eye, a bandaged wrist and a swollen face ... after taking a nasty fall near his hotel. 😎 #Exclusive interview here: https://t.co/R60njcKnP9 pic.twitter.com/3GKpl8FBpD

Rocking an eye patch, as Leno appeared for the interview, he shared that while staying in the Hampton Inn, he took a bad shortcut from his hotel, that subsequently resulted in him tumbling down.
"The hill doesn't look that steep — about 60, 70 feet. Let me see if I can get down there... and then I fell down, boom, boom, boom,” shared Leno with TMZ.
He, however, did not take any medical assistance immediately, until he returned home to Los Angeles. On Sunday, November 17, the ‘Midas Man’ star also appeared for a show in the Tinsel Town.
Speaking exclusively to Inside Edition, he further gave an account of his injuries, saying, “I broke my wrist. Lost my nail on the finger, I'm all black and blue from 60 feet of hitting rocks," according to Daily Mail.
Fans not convinced by Jay Leno's reason for his bruises
As Jay Leno shared his reason, several concerned fans cast doubts on his account, suggesting he might got a beating from the loan sharks.
One of the users commented online, "Is this jay leno story real? “I fell”? Sorry not buying that. someone beat the crap outta jay leno. I want an answer."

Someone else hinted he might have dealt with the mafia by referencing the famous Italian hand symbol, writing, "This gesture 🤌🏼 was made at least once during the beating."
"It’s the mob, Jack!! It’s gotta be!" said someone else.
Someone else similarly added, "Maybe some not good fellas at that Hampton Inn 🤌🏼."

No, this story doesn't make sense at all.
Another netizen mused, "Something fishy here. Multi millionaire stays at a Hampton Inn, and then too cheap to get a ride to go out and then walks off a cliff to get to his destination?????"

Another fan summed up, "So Jay Leno got set on fire a few years ago, is staying at a Hampton Inn while being worth millions of dollars, with an eye patch, bruised up face, a broken wrist and a missing fingernail. And he wants us to believe he. . . Fell down a hill???"

Expert debunks theory of Jay Leno getting thrashed up
Despite the speculation, Jason Singh, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Physician at One Oak Medical, supported Jay Leno’s claims while speaking to Nicki Swift, saying that his account of falling down and the injuries are consistent with the pattern.
"Jay Leno's account of falling down a hill is highly consistent with the pattern of injuries described. When someone falls down a hill, they typically impact the ground on one side of their body — in this case, the left side,” shared the doctor.
Singh further explained that his kind of injury mostly affects one side of the body, thus substantiating the reasons why the comedian is sporting the nasty bruise on the left side of his face.
Debunking the popular theory of Leno getting punched on the face, Singh explained, "[A]n isolated punch to the face would typically produce more localized bruising and less extensive body involvement."
