WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance have announced they are expecting their fourth child, a baby boy due this summer. Usha shared the news on social media, revealing that their "family is growing" and posting a joint message from the couple.

JD Vance and Usha, who met while studying at Yale Law School and married in 2014, are already parents to three young children, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.

Usha Vance announced on social media platform X, writing in the caption, "We’re very happy to share some exciting news. Our family is growing!"

She paired the post with an official statement from the couple, which read, "We are very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy."

The statement emphasized the baby's health, noting, "Usha and the baby are doing well and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July."

It also highlighted the couple’s focus on health and support, saying, "During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children."

JD Vance often speaks about his family and marriage and has become a leading voice in the Trump administration’s efforts to encourage Americans to have more children.

Speaking at the March for Life event in Washington last year, Vance said, "I want more babies in the United States of America. I want more babies in the United States of America. I want more happy children in our country, and I want --and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them."

He added, "And it is the task of our government to make it easier for young moms and dads to afford to have kids, to bring them into the world and to welcome them as the blessings that we know they are here at the March for Life."

Usha Vance will be the first second lady to have a baby while in office, though several first ladies have given birth while their husbands served as president.

First lady Frances Cleveland, wife of former President Grover Cleveland, gave birth to their daughter, Esther, in the White House in 1893, followed by a second child, Marion, born outside the White House.

The Vances have faced gossip about their marriage since October 2025, after the vice president warmly embraced the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika. Rumors grew in November and December when Usha appeared at events with First Lady Melania Trump without her wedding ring.

A spokesperson for the second lady explained that as a busy mom, she “does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”

The vice president dismissed the chatter about their relationship during an NBC News interview last month, saying the couple “kind of get a kick out of it.”
