DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance mirrored the health theories of Robert F Kennedy Jr, claiming "weird stuff" was put in water and food, leading to the return of "weird childhood diseases."

Speaking at a campaign rally in Detroit, Michigan, on Tuesday, October 8, the Ohio Senator hailed Kennedy, who ended his independent presidential campaign in swing states and endorsed former president Donald Trump.

Vance echoed the former Democrat-turned-Trump ally, mentioning clean air, water, obesity, mental health, and rising antidepressant intake among Americans, according to The Independent.

JD Vance raises concerns on food supply, citing rising obesity in US

Addressing the Detroit crowd, JD Vance claimed that he had worries about the environment but emphasized his greater worry was over the nation's food supply.

Questioning what went wrong with the food supply of the US, he cited that the country now faced "an obesity epidemic" unlike anything seen before in world history.

"That really worries me. What are we putting, you know, we have all of these weird childhood diseases that we did not have three, five, thirty, you know, three decades ago, five decades ago," the Trump running mate asked. "Does that suggest that we're putting too much weird stuff in our water or too much weird stuff in our food supply?"

During his independent White House bid, Kennedy issued similar theories claiming that federal health agencies should boost efforts against chronic diseases like obesity and diabetes.

In addition, he frequently criticized the regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical industry and put forth his concerns about the presence of chemicals in food. Another of his conspiracy theories was linked to vaccinations, accusing them of causing chronic illness in children, including autism and other "injuries."

Kennedy also baselessly claimed school shootings stemmed from the use of antidepressants.

JD Vance concerned about the impact of 'processed foods'

A spokesperson for JD Vance defended the VP nominee's explicit echoing of Robert F Kennedy Jr's health theories.

The spokesperson claimed that Vance was worried "a great deal about the impact processed foods are having on all Americans, including rising rates of obesity and Type 2 diabetes," and "the impacts of microplastics and other contaminants in our water."

In Detroit, the senator also praised Kennedy's slogan "Make America Healthy Again."

The ex-Democrat earlier asserted that Trump would implement measures to eliminate pesticides and other chemicals from food and water sources if elected in November, overlooking the fact that the 45th president ended over 100 environmental policies during his White House tenure, including chemical bans.

Vance, on the other hand, deemed the MAGA leader as an environmental protector.

In a September rally in Michigan, he said, "Of course we believe in protecting our environment." And days after, Trump refuted it in another event, deeming environmental concerns as "one of the greatest scams of all time."

Internet slams JD Vance for echoing RFK Jr's health theories on 'weird stuff' in water and food

Netizens blasted JD Vance for repeating Robert F Kennedy Jr's conspiracy theories about the presence of "weird" things in the food and water Americans consume.

"Rhetoric will change if he gets I. , just like here in the UK. It’s embarrassing people still fall for this nonsense," a user said.

"Michelle Obama suggested this 16 years ago and you screamed 'keep your hands off my processed foods…." another added.

"You’re in the wrong political party if you want to campaign upon making people healthy, weirdo," read a response.

"It's not a mystery why Americans are fat. We eat too much and use cars to go everywhere. It's not because American food is different from the rest of the world, it really isn't," someone else wrote.

"Vance is so misinformed and delusional: Elder Loser Trump wants to put more black-snake oil (will leak) pipelines through American Native’s Watersheds & homelands ! -Also, Elder Trump wants high-pollution emissions waived on his Super PAC associates. NOT IN HIS BACKYARD!" an individual argued.

"Too bad Trump and Vance care nothing for the health of the average American; Trump did absolutely nothing to address environmental concerns, big agriculture, or big Pharma his first term. Robert is whistling pass the graveyard," another user wrote.

"Why didn’t he talk about this before RFK JR endorsed Trump?" read one remark.
