WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance revealed on Monday, September 15, that conservative activist Charlie Kirk's wife, Erika Kirk, told him something about her marriage that he will never forget.

He made the revelation while hosting 'The Charlie Kirk Show' from his office at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, after announcing the tribute on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.

JD Vance recalls Erika Kirk telling him that Charlie never raised his voice at her

As the show began on Monday, JD Vance spoke highly of Charlie Kirk, who was tragically killed during a public debate event at Utah Valley University on September 10.

The vice president said, “Charlie was a visionary, he was a luminary. He created a whole social network for an entire generation of young people."

He also mentioned that he spoke with Erika after her husband’s death, and she told him something that stuck with him.

"She said to me that Charlie never raised his voice, that he never cussed at her, that he was never cross, or mean-spirited to her,” Vance revealed during the podcast.

The VP admitted that he is proud of being a husband, “but I could never say that I was never unpleasant with my wife.”

“I could never say that I’ve never raised my voice to my wife. Like most husbands, even the good ones, we’re imperfect,” he added.

Vance said the moment made him realize he needs to be a better husband and father.

"Because of all these moments that I’ve shared, the books that I’ve read to my kids, going up to their bedroom and kissing them and hugging them before bed, I’ve realized that all of these moments that I get to have, Charlie is not able to have them anymore,” the father of three said.

He further revealed that Erika asked him to keep Charlie’s movement, Turning Point USA, alive.

“We have to build upon it. We have to add to it,” the 41-year-old said.

JD Vance says he owes his political career to Charlie Kirk

During the podcast, JD Vance acknowledged that he owed much of his own political career to Charlie Kirk, who helped him rise from Senate hopeful to vice president.

The conservative activist had been instrumental in introducing Vance to donors, campaign staff, and influential figures such as Donald Trump Jr.

"If it weren’t for Charlie Kirk, I would not be the vice president of the United States,” Vance said.

For him, the broadcast was not only a personal farewell but also an expression of gratitude to a man he credited with shaping the Trump-Vance administration.

He added, “Charlie helped us win in 2024 and helped us staff the government. To honor him, we must ensure his vision for America lives on.”

The two first connected in 2017, after the Turning Point USA founder praised Vance’s television appearance.

Their friendship grew quickly, and Kirk became an early advocate for Vance’s political career. He also played an important role in President Donald Trump’s decision to select Vance as his running mate in 2024.
