CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Senator JD Vance (Ohio), the Republican nominee for vice president, said Democrats' "dark message" against former president Donald Trump does not align with their claims of a "joyful" message at this week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

During the convention, Democrats did not hold back in denouncing Trump and his running mate, regularly threatening the nation with the consequences of a second Trump term.

JD Vance says Democrats are not talking about their vision

On Wednesday night, August 21, JD Vance told CNN's Jake Tapper that Democrats are not discussing their ideas.

“So what you see from the Democrats is instead this argument that if you want to vote for Donald Trump because you want to change the direction of this country, you’re somehow a bad person,” he said, according to The Hill. “And I really think that that dark message really doesn’t gel at all with the idea that somehow the Democrats are the joyful party,” he added.

“There’s a lot of attacks on Donald Trump, a lot of criticisms of what he’s done and what he said. Not a whole lot of positive vision for how Kamala Harris is going to fix the problems that plague the country,” the senator continued.

Democrats have been needling and mocking Donald Trump throughout the convention

Throughout the convention, Democrats have been teasing and making fun of the former president in an attempt to get Donald Trump to respond. Since Trump's attempted assassination last month, JD Vance has advised them to "pump the brakes" on their comments for reasons of safety.

Donald Trump and JD Vance react to many of the speeches at DNC

Donald Trump has responded to several of the convention speeches by criticizing Michelle and former president Barack Obama for their comments earlier this week. He questioned if he still needed to “stick to policy” if his opponents are “getting personal.”

Vance also responded to Minnesota governor Tim Walz’s (D) speech accepting the vice presidential nomination on Wednesday, August 21, accusing him of not speaking about Vice President Kamala Harris’ record.

“Because they can’t talk about Kamala Harris’s record, they’re creating a phantom of Donald Trump’s leadership. The Donald Trump that I know, and that the American people know, I think, produced really good results for the American people,” Vance said, adding “It’s a record to be proud of, and a record I’d like to get back to, frankly, because it was good for the American people.”

Internet says DNC is 'only spreading hate'

Netizens slammed the DNC for only spreading hatred and failing to come up with anything productive and significant related to the future of the US. One X user tweeted, "Thus far, the DNC, inside their moated convention center, is only offering hate. I have yet to hear any hopeful messages." Another wrote, "A happy democrat? Good luck ever finding one. They adore misery."

"The Dems have been spewing racist hate for three days. Not much joy to be found," remarked one. Someone else wrote, "Why haven’t the Democrat women mentioned Laken Riley and how they plan to protect girls like her?"
