JD Vance shames media for not questioning Kamala Harris' remarks on US-Russia prisoner swap
WASHINGTON, DC: Republican vice presidential nominee Senator JD Vance attacked Vice President Kamala Harris and the media for their remarks after the return of American prisoners to their homes from Russia.
Vance seemed to be criticizing Harris' spontaneous comments that she made while standing next to President Joe Biden at Joint Base Andrews in Camp Springs, Maryland, per Fox News.
Sen JD Vance blasts Kamala Harris and press on social media platforms
"It's amazing that journalists can look themselves in the mirror while letting this person coast to a major party nomination for president," JD Vance said on X (formerly Twitter). "Is anyone going to ask this person a question?"
Harris has been the presumed Democratic nominee for almost two weeks, without holding a press conference since Biden announced that he would not be seeking reelection.

What did Kamala Harris say about the US-Russia prisoner swap?
During a press gaggle, Kamala Harris said of the prisoner swap, "This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy and strengthening alliances."
The video, which was initially released by the former president Donald Trump's campaign's "war room," prompted comments labeling Harris' remarks as "significance of the passage of time 2.0" — a reference to an earlier incident in which Harris repeatedly and unscriptedly repeated the same line. Harris mentioned the prisoner swap in an attempt to tease the reporters.
When Harris traveled to Sunset, Louisiana in 2022 with then-Governor John Bel Edwards and Rep Troy Carter (D-La), she gave them high marks and thought back on the day's activities, which included touring a library. "We were … talking about the significance of the passage of time. Right? The significance of the passage of time," Harris said.
"So, when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time in terms of what we need to do to lay these wires, what we need to do to create these jobs," she added. "And there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children and what that means to the future of our nation, depending on whether or not they have the resources they need to achieve their God-given talent."
Kamala Harris has dodged certain unscripted public events
Kamala Harris has conspicuously shunned several unplanned public appearances from the moment she emerged as the apparent Democratic presidential nominee.
The vice president did not make an appearance at a National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) gathering in Chicago, where Trump caused a stir with some of his remarks and altercations with ABC News reporter Rachel Scott.
Harris has already hosted two campaign stops and will host a third in Philadelphia the following week along with her unidentified vice presidential candidate. The location of the ceremony hinted that she would pick Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who was the state's attorney general and, before that, the chair of the Montgomery County commissioners' board.
Minnesota Gov Tim Walz, Sen Mark Kelly (D-Ariz), and Sen Gary Peters (D-Mich) have also been floated as potential running mate choices.

"I think she hit the nail on the head. The release of the prisoners is a testament to the significance of the power of diplomacy. What’s not to understand?" opined one.
Someone else remarked, "Be careful of this woman. The president is not measured by 'skin color' or 'race', but by 'actual achievements'. You are simply defrauding the United States!"
