WASHINGTON, DC: The vice presidential candidate's selection process is nearing its conclusion as Vice President Kamala Harris announced on Tuesday, July 30, that she will be touring battleground states with her candidate next week.

With President Joe Biden exiting his White House quest just over a week ago, Harris emerged as the Democratic front-runner for the November 5 election, setting up a pivotal decision over who will run with her.

Roy Cooper and Gretchen Whitmer are out of the VP sweepstakes

Governors Roy Cooper of North Carolina and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan announced on Monday, July 29, that they were eliminated from the running for vice president.

A few American states, often referred to as battlegrounds, such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, have recently determined the outcome of the presidential election over the past few years.

Campaigns usually start considering their vice-presidential candidate after the primary concludes in the spring, which gives them months to evaluate potential nominees and decide which one best fits their needs both politically and personally.

Kamala Harris is being forced to select her running mate on a highly-compressed timeline

Kamala Harris must choose her running mate within a very short timeframe. The Democratic National Committee has given her until August 7 to respond, but the sources indicate that a decision will probably be made sooner.

Harris's choices are being scrutinized by Eric Holder Jr, the former attorney general who oversaw Barack Obama's 2008 vice presidential selection process through his legal firm, Covington & Burling.

The candidates are informally auditioning for the job

The candidates are formally trying out for the position through radio appearances and campaign rallies in order to highlight their qualifications for the Harris ticket. For instance, Shapiro gave an inspiring speech on Harris on Monday, July 29, in a suburb of Philadelphia.

"She’s not only ready, she’s damned ready," he said to a cheering crowd, adding "And you know who else knows she’s ready? Donald Trump knows she’s ready."

Minnesota Governor Walz is recognized for spearheading the Democrats' latest charge against Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, the accusation that they are "weird." "The fascists depend on us going back, but we’re not afraid of weird people," Walz said on Saturday, July 27, of the Republican ticket. "We’re a little bit creeped out, but we’re not afraid," he added.

Internet says Kamala Harris picking her running mate is 'a farce'

Netizens lashed out at the Democratic party and Kamala Harris for selecting the vice presidential nominee for the party in the most undemocratic way possible. One X user tweeted, "The DNC doesn't need a convention. It's all a farce. Democrat voters have been scammed once again."

Another added, "Tour the mess that’s been made by her party in the last four years is more like it." "We are all waiting patiently for for the shit show," echoed another.

"She wasn't even voted for. They completely screwed their own party's democratic process and their voters are pissed. Not these trannygirls on zoom calls, but real Democrats are PISSED. This is going to be the party's biggest disaster in history. This is just the beginning," one user remarked.

"But HOW? Nobody voted for her to be the nominee!! Someone please help me understand how this is even constitutional!!!" wrote someone else.
