WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance slammed NBC for ignoring Israelis celebrating President Donald Trump’s role in securing a peace deal between Israel and Hamas, ending the conflict in Gaza.

Vance pointed out how the network showed booing for Benjamin Netanyahu but omitted cheers for the president during a rally in Tel Aviv.

JD Vance exposes NBC's selective coverage

Vance made this accusation on Sunday, October 12, during NBC’s 'Meet the Press', where he mentioned watching the network’s coverage showing demonstrators in Israel booing when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s name was mentioned at a rally, while ignoring the crowd when they started cheering Trump’s name.

"But I also have to give your network a little bit of grief, Kristen, because last night I was watching NBC, they were covering this and they mentioned during a rally last night in Israel, when Steve Witkoff our special envoy mentioned Bibi Netanyahu the crowd booed, but the broadcast didn’t mention when Steve Witkoff mentioned President Trump –– the crowd actually cheered," Vance said.

On Saturday night, October 11, in Tel Aviv, Steve Witkoff, the US Middle East envoy, along with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, spoke at the rally. The event was held in favour of the hostages still being held by Hamas, ahead of their release, which will happen on Monday, October 13.

Last week, Trump and his team announced that they had negotiated a peace deal between Israel and Hamas. According to them, this deal would end the conflict in Gaza and secure the release of all remaining hostages two years after the deadly October 7 attack by Hamas.

According to Israeli officials, the hostages who are alive are expected to be released all at once within 72 hours. Bringing back the bodies of the dead will take time, which Israel insists must be part of the deal.

At the Tel Aviv rally, people celebrated the peace deal, but the crowd booed when Witkoff mentioned Netanyahu’s role in the negotiation. As the booing continued, Witkoff said, "OK, let me just finish my thought. I was in the trenches with the prime minister. Believe me, he was a very important part here."

But the crowd’s reaction changed quickly and cheered when Witkoff mentioned the name of Trump.

Vance pointed out how NBC’s coverage omitted the cheer for Trump.

"And why is that, Kristen? Why did the crowd cheer? Because this moment came from very, very deliberate and consequential diplomacy from the president and the entire administration," Vance explained.
