WASHINGTON, DC: Senator JD Vance is spearheading a group of Senate conservatives determined to obstruct the fast-tracking of President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees and US attorney appointments.

This controversial pledge revealed on Thursday, June 13, is seen as a direct response to what the group describes as the Biden administration's "persecution" of former President Donald Trump, as per The Hill.

The pledge explicitly states that signatories will oppose any nominee who has supported legal actions against Trump or expressed agreement with the prosecutions, specifically referring to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's indictment of Trump on 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records.

According to the pledge, the blockade will encompass nominees who have endorsed Trump’s guilt, joined organizations celebrating the indictment, supported Bragg’s candidacy, or engaged in other forms of lawfare or censorship.

The senators have committed to maintaining this blockade until Election Day, framing it as an opportunity for Americans to reject what they view as the politicization of the legal system.

The notable senators joining Vance in this pledge include Mike Lee, Bill Hagerty, Roger Marshall, Tommy Tuberville, and Eric Schmitt.

In a statement on social platform X, Tuberville declared, "Democrats have WEAPONIZED our Justice System to go after their top political opponent, President Trump. My colleagues and I will NOT ALLOW fast-tracking of Biden’s judicial and US Attorney nominees until the American people make their voices heard on Election Day."

The blockade targets several of Biden's key nominees, including Sarah French Russell for the District of Connecticut, Mustafa Kasubhai for the District of Oregon, and Amir Ali and Sparkle Sooknanan for the District of Columbia.

US attorney nominees for the Northern District of Ohio, the District of Massachusetts, and the Northern District of Iowa are also affected.

This move follows a recent pledge circulated by Lee, in which GOP senators vowed to oppose any increase in nonsecurity-related funding for the Biden administration. They also committed to rejecting fast-tracking Democratic legislation that they believe is unrelated to national safety.
