WASHINGTON, DC: Senator JD Vance, who represents Ohio, has denied lobbying for Donald Trump's running mate but if he's asked he will "certainly do it."

This comes amid speculations he would be the potential pick rife on the internet with people already confirming how they feel about the choice.

Sen JD Vance says he is not the 'obvious pick' for Donald Trump's VP

The first time Ohio senator rejected the notion of being "the obvious pick" of former president Trump and stated that he had not discussed the matter with him.

“My attitude towards it is, if it comes to me, great. But it’s not something I’m going to lobby for," Vance told Fox News.

"I don’t think that’s the right attitude to take towards it, and you know maybe, Trump respects that. Maybe he doesn’t, but that’s ultimately his call,” the senator added according to The Hill.

Sen JD Vance says Donald Trump has a 'lot of talented people' to pick from as his running mates

Vance said there are more "talented people" Trump has to pick from and that he is "glad" it's not his decision.

“Look, it’s ultimately Donald Trump’s decision. There’s a lot of talented people to pick from. And look, I’m glad it’s not my decision because there are so many good people," Vance said.

"But as I’ve said to other people, I have not talked to Donald Trump about it. I’m very interested in helping him out whatever that looks like,” he added.

Sen JD Vance will be willing to 'serve' as VP if Donald Trump asks him

Vance, who was once a critic of former president Trump, has become his staunch ally since he took office in the midterms.

If he is picked as Trump's running mate, the senator reportedly will fully utilize his talent to serve the country. “If he asks me to serve, I will certainly do it," Vance said.

“I was wrong about him,” he told CNN last month. “It’s one of the reasons why I’m working so hard to get him elected.”

Besides Vance, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R), along with Senators Marco Rubio (R-Fla), and Tim Scott (R-SC) are reported to have received vetting inquiries from Trump's campaign team.

Trump has said he plans to announce his vice presidential pick at the Republican National Convention on 15 July. On 11 July, he’s set to be sentenced for criminal hush money case charges in New York.

Internet divided over Sen JD Vance as Donald Trump's potential VP

Netizens have been talking both positively and negatively about Vance being Trump's potential VP pick.

"The greatest thing about JD Vance potentially being the VP for Trump is how anti-Trump he was. Dude is an original never Trumper but MAGA is so gullible," one wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"He would be my first pick," wrote one about his choice of VP pick.

"Disappointed, very disappointed!" wrote another about his feelings if Vance is picked as VP.

"I think JD Vance will make an excellent VP and later President!" one affirmed. "Jd Vance is a LIAR and he's UNFIT to be anything, especially vp..," argued another.

Some criticized him for his alleged use of makeup. "Even with the eye shadow I don't think JD Vance is going to win the VP pageant, do you? I could be wrong...."

"And yes, the eyeliner is unusual, but it lets him stand out when his words won't," wrote one more.
