ROME, ITALY: Vice President JD Vance visited the grave of late Pope Francis on Sunday, May 18, accompanied by second lady Usha Vance, after the inaugural mass of new pontiff Pope Leo in Rome, Italy.

Vance posted pictures on X, with the caption, "Today, SLOTUS and I visited the tomb of the late Holy Father Pope Francis. He was beloved by many Catholics around the world, and I hope you will join me in praying for the repose of his soul."

However, his post sparked a meme fest online due to Vance's unexpected connection to the late Pope Francis. Just hours before Francis died on April 21, Vance met briefly with him, thus fueling speculation online that he was somehow responsible for his death.
