Jelly Roll slams X as he quits social media platform
Jelly Roll described the platform as a chaotic environment where users feel free to be unkind without consequences, commenting, “It’s a safe place for everyone to say mean stuff to each other.”
Concluding his post, he stated simply, “I’m out lol.” As of now, his X account remains active, with his sign-up details from April 2009 still visible, the US Magazine reported.
Jelly Roll’s decision comes on the heels of remarks made by his wife, Bunnie Xo, who addressed the cyberbullying he has faced online. In an episode of her 'Dumb Blonde' podcast, she revealed, “My husband got off the internet because he is so tired of being bullied about his f**king weight. It hurts him.”
Bunnie emphasized the emotional toll that online harassment can take, urging listeners to consider the potential consequences of their words. She asked, “Do you know how many people kill themselves from being bullied a year? Enough is enough.”
Meanwhile, Elon Musk's chaotic takeover of X, marked by controversial changes like a new verification policy and mass layoffs, has led several celebrities, including Elton John and Jim Carrey, to leave the platform. Many have cited dissatisfaction with Musk's decisions, including the reinstatement of controversial accounts.
Jelly Roll’s journey through addiction and recovery shapes his music and personal life
The couple, who married in 2016, has faced significant challenges, with Jelly Roll having a background marked by his parents' struggles with addiction and mental health.
Despite his success—winning a CMA award for New Artist of the Year and several CMT awards for his song “Son of a Sinner”—he remains grounded and open about his past.
In a recent podcast interview, Jelly Roll discussed his journey with addiction and recovery, revealing he attended his first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting as a teenager.
He shared, “Oh goodness, I don’t fully remember my first real meeting ‘cause I was court-ordered at like 14,” but noted that he found solace in those spaces.
His experiences have greatly influenced his music, including his hit song 'I Am Not Okay' and tracks from his album 'Beautifully Broken'.
Jelly Roll acknowledged the ongoing struggle with addiction, stating, “Something I do for maintaining my relationship with those drugs is I will still attend the meetings… I just quietly sit and appreciate the message and the meaning.”
