Jelly Roll finds it ‘crazy’ as fans sing along to every word in his shows, shares a 'surreal' fan moment
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Country music sensation Jelly Roll is in awe of his fans’ dedication as the 39-year-old artist shared his amazement at how his fans know every word of his songs and sing along at his concerts.
This level of fan engagement, he says, is something he finds “crazy.” One particular fan encounter, however, stands out in his memory.
Jelly Roll's memorable fan encounter
It happened at a Las Vegas concert last year, involving a proud septuagenarian and his wife.
"There was a veteran in his 70s with his wife – I knew he was a veteran because the hat he was wearing said so, he was very proud,” Jelly Roll, recalled to US Weekly.
He added, “Seeing that man and his wife enjoy the concert was one of the most surreal moments of tour – I was proud to have him as a fan."
"I asked security to bring him backstage and we talked for close to an hour – it really meant a lot to me," the 'Need a Favor' singer said.
As Jelly Roll gears up for his performance at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday, April 1, he expressed his astonishment at his fans' unwavering dedication.
He finds it “crazy” to see fans "in the front row singing every single word along with me.”
Jelly Roll's 'Save Me' continues to resonate with people
Jelly Roll told the publication he loves all his songs “for all different reasons."
But his breakout hit 'Save Me' continues to resonate with people in ways he never imagined when he wrote it.
“The fans sing [‘Save Me’] back every night. It’s also incredible to see the impact of radio and how the fans sing back ‘Need A Favor’"
He said the connection the music "continues to have and reaction from people for any of my songs is something I never take for granted.”
At iHeartRadio Music Awards, he’s up for eight awards. These include Artist of the Year, Best New Artist (Pop), Country Artist of the Year, Best New Artist (Country), Best New Artist (Alt and Rock), Rock Song of the Year, and Rock Artist of the Year.
