Jennifer Lopez eyeing Oscar as she gears up for ultimate comeback in 2025 after Ben Affleck divorce drama
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez is reportedly gearing up for a significant career resurgence in 2025, determined to showcase her resilience after her emotional split from Ben Affleck.
The 'Ain't Your Mama' singer's close friend told Daily Mail that the 55-year-old superstar is committed to making next year her best yet, saying, "She wants next year to be her best year ever to show the world her crummy love life did not get her down. She will rise."
Jennifer Lopez sets sights on major comeback after divorce
Lopez is expected to focus on two major projects that will elevate her profile. First, she will be actively campaigning for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role as a devoted mother in the upcoming film 'Unstoppable'.
"She wants an Oscar for Unstoppable," a source told DailyMail.com.
Interestingly, Affleck, along with Matt Damon, is one of the film's producers, and they are reportedly set to support her during the awards season.
"She is sensational in it, I saw the movie and wow, she nails it. I think a lot of people have discounted her acting skills because she is such a glamazon but this film is a wake up call, like, hey guys, she can really act her pants off, " the source continued.
"Jen wanted the Oscar for Hustlers and felt she deserved it, and she pretty much did but there is prejudice against her," they added.
Lopez had a successful 2024, particularly with the release of 'Atlas', but the media scrutiny following her divorce has cast a shadow over her achievements. With aspirations of winning an Oscar for 'Unstoppable', Lopez hopes to prove her critics wrong, especially after missing out on a nomination for her performance in 'Hustlers'.
"There is a hope that she will get the gold for Unstoppable. It helps that she is now seen as the victim in the Affleck split. I think voters may want to give her the award now, they feel she has been through a lot," the source noted.
Jennifer Lopez's star-studded tour to start in summer
Jennifer Lopez is set to make a dazzling return to the stage in 2025 with her much-anticipated 'Greatest Hits' tour. Originally scheduled for 2024 but postponed due to personal reasons, the tour promises a high-energy showcase of Lopez’s biggest hits, complete with her signature glamorous outfits and electrifying performances.
According to insiders, fans can expect "razzle dazzle" and a series of surprise guest appearances from some of the biggest names in the industry. "She’s working on bringing in hot singers to light up the stage," a source revealed.
In addition to her tour, Lopez will be starring in and producing the musical adaptation of 'Kiss of the Spider Woman', which is scheduled for release in 2025. The film is based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, itself adapted from Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel.
