'Jeopardy!' contestant redeems himself in the eyes of Taylor Swift fans after getting singer's clue wrong
CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA: 'Jeopardy!' contestant Drew Goins did not take long to repair his reputation after he disappointed several Taylor Swift fans during his last appearance on the game show.
The Hawaii-based journalist, a fan-favorite contestant who first appeared on the show in September 2024, returned to 'Jeopardy!' in January in the final week of the Second Chance Tournament, according to People.
Drew Goins leaves Swifties disappointed in first 'Jeopardy!' appearance last year
During his first-ever 'Jeopardy!' appearance in September 2024, Drew Goins made waves among Taylor Swift's fanbase after he failed to guess the right answer to a clue about one of her albums.
He was left disappointed after a Grammy-themed question category revealed an $800 tile that read 'The first of Taylor Swift’s record 4 [album of the year] Grammys was for this album in 2010'.

In a viral clip of the moment shared on the official 'Jeopardy!' Instagram account, Goins seemed flustered and disappointed after he failed to name the correct answer, 'Fearless', instead shook his head back and forth, per the outlet.
Goins bid adieu to both 'Jeopardy!' and his chance to prove himself to the Swifties he had disappointed after he failed to answer the Swift-related clue and narrow loss overall.
Drew Goins redeems himself in the eyes of Taylor Swift fans
In Drew Goins' first Second Chance Tournament appearance, which was filmed in 2024 but aired on January 6, host Ken Jennings discussed the 'Fearless' slip-up, and asked Goins about the "run-in with some angry Swifties" he experienced last fall.
Goins responded, "I got a Taylor Swift question wrong, went home worried that the Swifties would come rip me out of my bed one night, but it turns out the angry Swiftie was my brother, who’s here today."
Moreover, he added that when his brother Zach heard he was headed back to the game show, he made the journalist study his Swift history.
He said, "The night before taping, he had prepared an entire practice board for me" and added that the information on the board was a bit skewed.
Notably, both Goins and his brother’s hard work paid off as the 'Jeopardy!' writers included another Swift-related prompt in the new episode. It went as - "In 2014, Taylor Swift gave us this album named for a different year."
Goins, excited at his shot at redemption among the Swift’s fans, and the fact that he knew the answer, Goins rang in and said, "What is 1989?"
Jennings replied, "Redemption for Drew! That is correct. And the crowd goes wild."

He also made his brother proud who wrote on X, "No bad blood between me and @drewlgoins anymore. I knew all too well he'd crush any more @taylorswift13 questions on #Jeopardy!" as he shared a clip of Goins’ moment of redemption.
