LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jeremy Renner has a history with the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise that spanned across two films, 'Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol' in 2011 and 'Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation' in 2015.

In an episode of the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, the actor revealed that he declined to reprise his role in 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' in order to spend more time with his 11-year-old daughter Ava, he shares with ex Sonni Pacheco.

The 'Hurt Locker' actor welcomed Ava into the world with Pacheco in March 2013. Renner declared in later interviews that becoming a father was "the best thing" he had ever done, per People.

Explaining why he turned down 2018's 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' role, Renner, 53, told host Josh Horowitz of the podcast: "There [was] no schedule, so I can’t go out for a year and a half. I gotta go be a dad."

"I can’t just move my daughter out here because [her] mom is — you know, I was landlocked out here. I couldn’t film overseas anymore," the 'Hawkeye' star added.

Renner also revealed that for his character to be killed off in the franchise, he was requested to go abroad for a week.

He recounted, "I remember they tried to bring me overseas for a week so they could kill my character, and I was like, ‘No, you don’t get to do that. You’re not going to drag me over there and just kill my character,’ like get out of here!"

Renner captioned the post: "As she grows, so grows our love, respect, and adoration … Happy 11th Birthday to my number one ❤️‍🔥🎁❤️🎁 #luckyman."

Jeremy Renner not discounting another 'Mission: Impossible' comeback

Many people were thrilled when Renner joined the 'Mission: Impossible' as William Brandt franchise years ago. The 53-year-old enhanced the franchise with vitality, flare, and humor, a perfect match for Tom Cruise's portrayal of Ethan Hunt.

Renner said that his fatherly responsibilities and the time he would spend away from his family while filming overseas were contributing factors in his decision to leave the franchise.

However, Renner might reprise his role as Brandt in the future as his daughter becomes older.

"Maybe now that my daughter is older that could happen. I'd always jump into a Mission: Impossible anytime and back into Brandt. It’s great," he told Collider.

Though he was initially thought to be a potential replacement for Cruise's Ethan Hunt, Renner pondered about the possibility of playing William Brandt again.

Brandt was a well-known figure for his combination of potent combat skills and a sharp sense of humor.

Fans of the franchise who valued Renner's involvement in the previous movies may become excited about the prospect of his comeback.

However, currently, there is no indication or confirmation that Renner will be joining the franchise again after declining to star in 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout.'
