LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA; Controversial comedian Jerrod Carmichael's recent jibe on race-based role-playing with his White boyfriend and his comments about sex addiction have garnered wide criticism on social media. 

During the Friday, April 5, episode of HBO's 'Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show', the 37-year-old comedian explored his relationship with sex. Later on the show, he recalled attempting to find a therapist to unpack his issues after admitting to cheating on his long-distance boyfriend Mike.

The comedian then expressed that he is addicted to intercourse and often uses sex to “escape” the world around him, TMZ reported.



 

What did Jerrod Carmichael say? 

Jerrod Carmichael is seen talking about sex during a stand-up act in the clip. He details his sexual dreams, giving the audience a glimpse of his vulnerabilities, including race play. 



 

Carmichael said, "Sometimes, I joke to him that our relationship is like that of a slave and a master’s son who teaches me how to read by candlelight,” before adding “Yeah, he groans too because he’s a good person. He doesn’t like the f**king joke. I like that joke. That’s my burden. I think that’s s**t’s hilarious. ‘Yes, sir? Maria Antoinette, sir? I don’t know what that is!’ That’s a joke for me!”


There are also brief quotes from his therapist in this episode. The comedian acknowledged that he started having sex at a very young age. Carmichael also talked about how comedy affects his sexuality and his connection with sex.

He said, "I was a very sexual child since probably I was three or four, with older kids," before adding, "I definitely had experiences with boys that I hid and my teenage years into my twenties, beginning secret sex with guys…Sex offers me power and control. It’s an escape. I use it to escape."

Internet slams Carmichael for his comments on the show 

Several social media users slammed the comedian for his "weird" thoughts. A Facebook user wrote, "He is just so sad to me." 

Another said, "Just doing it for attention." One individual wrote, "Never thought he was funny, and couldn't understand how he was given his own show."

One person said, "The joke has no premise. It sounded like he just wanted to get it out of his mind and move on from it. It's like he needed it to bomb, so he could move on from it creatively." 

Another said, "He needs to watch Roots and many other slavery movies. He apparently has been brainwashed." 

One individual said, "He is trying to be funny so bad."

Another wrote, "He been like this, that's why his show got canceled!" One person commented, "He has always been weird."
