Jerry Seinfeld says he had 'lots of fights' with Hugh Grant while filming Netflix movie 'Unfrosted'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: While it seems that Jerry Seinfeld and Hugh Grant would get along quite well, things seem to be different as the 'Seinfeld' star revealed he had a "horrible" time working with the 'Notting Hill' actor.
Seinfeld went as far as to claim Grant was a "pain in the a**" while they were filming the upcoming Netflix film 'Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story' during his appearance on 'The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon' on Wednesday, March 27, as per the New York Post.
Jerry Seinfeld and Hugh Grant fought a lot during the filming of 'Unfrosted'
Taking to the late-night host Jimmy Fallon, Seinfeld recalled, "We had lots of fights. He's a pain in the a** to work with. He’s horrible. He tells you before you work with him, ‘You’re gonna hate this.’ And he’s so right."
However, it seems the two resolved their differences, developing a mutual understanding and the ability to carry on with the movie's filming.
"We shot for 10 weeks, and that night that he and I had dinner — and we got drunk having dinner — that was the greatest night," recounted the 'Bee Movie' star to a visibly shocked Fallon.
Seinfeld further shared, "Because he’s so cool, and he’s that English thing, you know, that witty. He looks good in a jacket . . . he's one of those guys. I love those guys."
Seinfeld, who wrote, directed, and acted in the movie, initially did not anticipate Grant would be able to be a part of the Netflix project. He claimed that Grant had joined at the last minute, and given their close-knit feud, he momentarily regretted having allowed him on.
The comedian mentioned, "I did not think of Hugh Grant for the part. [I imagined] a frustrated Shakespearean actor who has to play this embarrassing character to make his car payments. But he called us and he said, 'I want to be in the Pop-Tart movie.' So I got the script and auditioned on my phone."
Seinfeld joked, "So he did an audition on his phone — with a glass of wine in the other hand, by the way. Like I care what the audition was. I go, 'Yeah, sure, you’re Tony the Tiger, sure.'"
Jerry Seinfeld and Hugh Grant's Netflix film 'Unfrosted' to premiere in May
Grant portrays Thurl Ravenscroft, the voice of Tony the Tiger, the iconic Kellogg's Frosted Flakes character, in 'Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story', slated to release on May 3 on Netflix.
The film's ensemble cast also features Melissa McCarthy, Dan Levy, Fred Armisen, Amy Schumer, and James Marsden.
Netflix revealed in July 2023 that Seinfeld would act, produce, and direct the movie loosely based on the story of how the Pop-Tarts toaster pastries were created.

The concept originated from a joke the comedian told the audience in his 2020 Netflix special '23 Hours To Kill', where he said that when he was eight years old and saw Pop-Tarts for the first time in a grocery store "the back of [his] head blew right off."
He quipped, "I was in the supermarket with my mother, and I was like, 'Hold up, hold up — what the hell is that?' When you open the packet, there’s two. Why? One’s not enough; three is too many — that’s why. It was perfect. Perfect vision of the future from Kellogg's."
