NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News host Jesse Watters on Tuesday, Jan 20, leaned fully into President Donald Trump’s push to take control of Greenland, declaring on air that the United States already owns the Moon and predicting that Greenland will inevitably follow.

This comes after he earlier ridiculed European leaders for rejecting Trump’s push to acquire Greenland, sarcastically questioning why US allies would not simply comply with Trump’s wishes.

Jesse Watters says 'we will own Greenland'

During a discussion on 'The Five', Watters framed Trump’s interest in Greenland as part of what he described as America’s historical pattern of expansion and dominance.

“We have to secure Greenland. It will happen,” Watters said, before launching into a sweeping monologue about US power and precedent.

Arguing that the US routinely advances its interests through force or purchase, Watters cited past territorial acquisitions while making an eyebrow-raising claim about outer space.

“The United States always secures our interests, economically, militarily, either by force or purchase,” he said, listing the Louisiana Purchase, Alaska, the Philippines, and the Marshall Islands.

“We got the Moon. I think we own it. I know we own it.”

Watters framed the argument as a rejection of globalization, insisting the US must prioritize supply chains and missile defense particularly against China, regardless of international objections.

Watters went on to argue that Denmark has no standing to resist Trump’s overtures, claiming the country cannot adequately defend Greenland and is relying on US protection.

“Denmark cannot defend or develop the island,” he said, adding that the country lives under what he described as America’s “big, beautiful umbrella.”

“Do they want to live under it or not?” Watters asked.

In one of the segments, Watters likened Trump’s proposal to a wealthy developer attempting to buy prime coastal property from an elderly owner who cannot use it.

“It’s like when you find out your great-grandmother has this amazing piece of real estate right on the coast,” he said, arguing that refusing such an offer would be irrational.

“So someone comes here, slaps a check down, and you’re gonna say no?” Watters added.

As US-Greenland diplomacy continues to unfold, Watters suggested that Trump’s top economic and foreign policy officials would eventually force the issue behind closed doors.

“Once Bessent and Lutnik and Rubio get into a room with all of these guys and knock their heads together, we’re getting Greenland,” he said.

Just last week, Watters mocked European leaders for resisting Trump’s ambitions, asking on air, “Why won’t they give daddy what he wants?”
