LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent segment on 'The Five' on Fox News, Jesse Watters stirred up significant controversy by praising former president Donald Trump for his audacious characterization of January 6, 2021, as a "day of love."

This remark, made during a televised town hall on Univision, was part of Trump's ongoing effort to reframe the narrative surrounding the Capitol riots, which left a profound mark on American democracy.

Donald Trump reframes January 6 as a 'day of love'

According to the Daily Beast, during the town hall, Donald Trump asserted that the January 6 protests were peaceful and depicted the day as a "day of love."

He emphasized that hundreds of thousands came to Washington to express their discontent over what they believed was a rigged election.

“When I say ‘we', these are people that walked down, this was a tiny percentage of the overall, which nobody sees and nobody shows, but that was a day of love from the standpoint of the millions—it’s like hundreds of thousands, it could have been the largest group I’ve ever spoken to before,” Trump added,

Jesse Watters praised Donald Trump for his ability to rebrand his message effectively, stating, “Great rebranding by Trump—'Day of Love'. I just think you got to give them credit for that just for the attempt.”

Co-host Jeanine Pirro interjected Watters to remind him, "Like your summer of love in 2020? When they burned down the city." "Summer of Love" is a time remembered for unrest and chaos in various cities across the nation.

In the same segment, Watters pivoted to a broader critique of Vice President Kamala Harris and her promises to various demographic groups. He said, “So far she’s promised Blacks welfare and weed, she’s promised college kids loan bailouts, she’s promised women abortion, and to White dudes, well I guess we just get to be called real men.”

This narrative highlighted a sentiment that certain demographics are receiving more attention and promises than others.

Watters asserted, “The sooner you get rid of Kamala Harris, the better your life is going to be,” suggesting that Harris’s policies tend to reward “bad behavior” while punishing “good behavior.” He emphasized the contributions of hard-working individuals, particularly in the Hispanic community.

Watters emphasized, in contrast to Harris, "Trump is promising the American dream. He is not going to redistribute your money based on skin color and victimhood. He’s just going to give everybody a fair share.”
