NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: First lady Dr Jill Biden appeared alongside co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, to promote her new book 'Willow the White House Cat,' and President Joe Biden's reelection efforts on the Wednesday, May 29 episode of 'The View.'

While Dr Biden warned of the probable fallouts of a second Trump presidency at the Hot Topics Table, she also addressed the growing concern among voters about incumbent Biden's age and the steps that he was taking to improve the economy of the country.

In the November 2024 general election, the age of the candidates features as a major issue, as the presumptive Democratic and GOP nominees are the oldest pair of rivals to face off for the White House in the United States, at ages 81 and 77, respectively.

Dr Jill Biden's take on Joe Biden's age

Co-host Behar brought up the age subject in the discussion, stating that she was the same age as President Biden.

She went on to claim that Biden was "competent, alert, and doing the job," while his Republican opponent Trump was "doddering" and had "brainfarts in the middle of his paragraphs."

"This election is not about age," noted the first lady. "I mean Donald Trump is going to be 78 and Joe's 81, they're basically the same age. But, it's about character. This election is about character."

She laid out the options for the voters in the upcoming election, saying, "So you have two choices - you have my husband, Joe, (whom) you all know, who has integrity. He is strong, he is steady, he is a leader, he is smart, he is energetic. Or, you have chaos."

Dr Jill Biden discusses Joe Biden's efforts to check inflation

Agreeing with Behar's premise that inflation was down in the United States, the first lady shared the work President Biden was putting in to improve the overall state of the economy.

"He has been meeting with CEOs of major companies ... to say, 'You have to bring down these prices,' and they responded," she said.

Assuring that the incumbent will keep at his efforts, Dr Biden mentioned that corporations such as McDonald's and Burger King have decided to pay heed to lower their prices.

"We can't have corporate greed, we have to get control of it. So Joe is working on that every single day," she added.
