NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On the May 20 episode of 'The View', moderator Whoopi Goldberg couldn’t contain her amusement as Rudy Giuliani was officially served indictment papers over the weekend—right in the middle of his own birthday party, shedding mock tears for the former Mayor of New York City.

As per NBC News, Giuliani received the notice of his indictment concerning an alleged conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona, at his birthday party.

During the show, Goldberg began the discussion with a humorous tone, recounting the events that unfolded at the party, then pretending to be deeply moved, feigning distress while describing the reactions of Giuliani's birthday party guests.

“Some were crying because they were like, so upset about this!” she mocked.

“They were not so upset that he partook in lies about what was happening in the country, but they were upset that he was served. My question is this — let me get my stuff together," Goldberg continued.

At that, Goldberg buried her face in her hands, theatrically wiping away fake tears, and thanked the audience for understanding and appreciating her “distress.”

“Did he really think he could outrun the law?!” she then asked, her tone shifting to a more serious but still mocking demeanor.

Reportedly, Giuliani was served the indictment papers during a celebration for his 80th birthday in Palm Beach, Florida.

Ana Navarro calls out Rudy Giuliani's evasion tactics

Host Ana Navarro affirmed that Giuliani had indeed been trying to evade law enforcement, as she explained, "They had been chasing him down, trying to serve him for weeks and weeks in New York and in Florida. He had been holed up in his apartment refusing service. He thought the deadline was coming and that he was going to be fine. All those people crying and screaming and shrieking."

She also mentioned that Giuliani had gone as far as taunting law enforcement on social media.

In a now-deleted social media post, Giuliani wrote, “If Arizona authorities can’t find me by tomorrow morning: 1. They must dismiss the indictment; 2. They must concede they can’t count votes.” However, he was served with the papers just two hours later.

The message was accompanied by a photo showing Giuliani smiling alongside six others, with balloons arranged behind them.

“Rudy!” Goldberg wailed as Navarro poked fun at the people who actually were upset, adding “Rudyyyy! Don’t take my Rudy!"

As the hosts continued to jest about Giuliani, Navarro eventually handed a tissue to Whoopi, commending her for composing herself and carrying on.

"Well, I haven’t stopped crying inside," Goldberg joked in response.

Netizens divided over 'The View's commentary on Rudy Giuliani's indictment

Social media was divided after 'The View's commentary on Giuliani's indictment, with several slamming the hosts as being 'disgusting'.

One viewer expressed, "I'm not a Rudy Gulliani fan at all...but I still gaze astonishment at how the ladies @TheView love love love seeing others fail while moking them with chokeholds so strong that they expect never to even bother rising about their shortcomings. C'mon now ladies."

Another viewer shared, ""Hot Topics" where Rudy Giuliani is on everyone's mind Lol."

One viewer pointed out, "Whoopie, your intro is not funny. The girls are just force laughing on you."

A follower observed, "Soon the tables will turn along with pardons galore!" referring to Trump.

Another comment read, "Rudy Giuliani is an American hero. He was the main architect in dismantling the mafia in the 80s. And he was the mayor of New York during 9/11, and he was the best leader in that city, and gave people hope. These cackling serpents celebrating his potential demise are disgusting."

One comment stated, "GOOD! He needs to be in prison too."
