A source close to the star revealed that the sunglasses were a deliberate choice, shared by Fallon and his band, The Roots, according to Daily Mail.

“His band is wearing sunglasses—they all rehearsed in them,” the insider said, adding that the rainy conditions and fast-paced schedule also played a role.

Jimmy Fallon, a parade regular since 2009, also opened up about an unexpected consequence of his long-standing participation - “Waver’s elbow.”

The comedian explained that years of enthusiastic waving during the parade’s three-hour route may have caused the ailment, which his doctor initially misdiagnosed as “golfer’s elbow.”

“I don’t really golf that much,” joked Fallon.

“But I think I got it from waving on the float. Maybe the Queen [of England] has had this ailment,” he told People.

Despite the discomfort, Fallon assured fans it would not stop him from giving his all.

“When you see me waving this year, just know I’m giving 110%,” he said, humorously adding, “You don’t even have to wave back—I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.”

Fallon made his debut at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2009, riding on Gibson Guitars’ float.

Since then, he has returned eight times, often accompanied by The Roots.
