LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Looks like Jimmy Fallon's entertainment prowess is getting some well-deserved recognition! Jimmy Fallon recently shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, wishing everyone a happy new year and talking about the time in 2023 when he waved in on the Emmy race!

Reportedly, two shows by his production company Electric Hot Dog secured Emmy nominations. Fallon's game show 'That’s My Jam' secured a nomination in the Outstanding Game Show category.

Additionally, another project he executive produces, 'Password', earned a nomination in the Outstanding Host For A Game Show category, with Keke Palmer as the nominee.

The caption of the tweet read, "LIVE streaming. @KekePalmer @HotDogBuzz #Emmys #Password #ThatsMyJam #happy2024".

Exciting times for the genre

Breaking tradition, the game show trophy found its home in the Primetime Emmys ceremony, a shift from its usual place in the Daytime Emmys.

The change was particularly noteworthy as it marked the first instance in many years where a new show successfully made its mark in the esteemed game show category.

It all happened owing to the collaboration between the TV Academy and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

With the switch in play, it was a notable moment as game shows stepped into the primetime spotlight for the Emmys. Exciting times for the genre!

Keke Palmer, the host of NBC’s 'Password', faced off against formidable contenders, including Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings from 'Jeopardy!', Steve Harvey representing 'Family Feud', and Pat Sajak holding it down on 'Wheel Of Fortune'. It was a star-studded lineup vying for the prestigious Emmy recognition!

In July 12, 2023, Fallon made an X post, saying, "And the Password is… Emmy!!  CONGRATS KEKE on the Outstanding Host For A Game Show nomination!!!!! You are the best!!! @KekePalmer #Emmys #Emmys2023".

'That’s My Jam’ resonates with people, says showrunner

The second season of the Universal-produced show 'That's My Jam', spanning 10 episodes, made a significant impact surpassing its predecessor. Airing on Peacock, it witnessed a remarkable 70% surge in total viewership.

The season also boasted star-studded appearances, featuring the likes of Kelsea Ballerini, Quinta Brunson, Taraji P. Henson, Keke Palmer, and Billy Porter, among other notable names.

According to Variety, Mike Yurchuk, the executive producer and showrunner, attributed the resonance of 'That’s My Jam' to its unique blend of comedy and music at its core.

Back then he described, "I think ‘That’s My Jam’ resonates with people because it’s a very different kind of game show, with comedy and music at its core."

Adding to it, he said "It’s pure entertainment. It has celebrities cutting loose, getting competitive, playing fun games and performing in ridiculous ways … I don’t think there is anything quite like it on TV.”
