WASHINGTON, DC: Jimmy Kimmel is being called out for calling Melania Trump an “expectant widow.” The comedian reportedly made the comment days before the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

President Donald Trump and the first lady, along with Vice President JD Vance, were among the high-profile attendees of the Saturday, April 25, event that saw a suspect identified as Cole Tomas Allen opening fire. However, they did not get injured.

Jimmy Kimmel said Melania Trump has a glow 'like an expectant widow'

On Thursday, Kimmel had reportedly said during a parody of the annual journalism event that Melania has “a glow like an expectant widow.”

“You know, Melania's birthday is on Sunday. She's planning to celebrate at home the same way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, 'What have I done?’” he added.

Internet drags Jimmy Kimmel for 'disgusting' remark about Melania Trump

Soon, people began calling him out, but the backlash increased following the Saturday incident.

Political commentator Link Lauren wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Many in the mainstream media have stoked division and hatred for years. Jimmy Kimmel just made a disgusting ‘joke’ about Melania Trump becoming a widow. After the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and what transpired with President Trump, now they suddenly want to act shocked.”

Film critic Christian Toto posted, “What might it take for ABC to discipline its insane hosts? No, really ... I'd like an answer.”

“Your reminder to cancel @Disney @ABC if ypu haven't already. Kimmel and all the rest of the deranged left should be held accountable for COLE ALLEN,” another user commented.

A comment on X read, “This is not a joke @Disney. Time to curtail this vile rhetoric.”

Legal scholar Jonathan Turley added, “Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert are perfecting a new genre of rage humor for the perpetually irate. Even without the later assassination attempt, Kimmel hit a new low in saying that the First Lady had ‘a glow like an expectant widow.’”

“And then there is Jimmy Kimmel whose comments in a skit this week about Melania having the glow of an expectant widow. DISGUSTING!!! I cannot believe this trash is still on the air,” an X user shared.

Meanwhile, the accused was arrested soon after he opened fire while carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives.

Later, Trump took to Truth Social, where he said, “Law Enforcement has requested that we leave the premises, consistent with protocol, which we will do, immediately. I will be giving a press conference in 30 minutes from the White House Press Briefing Room.”

“The First Lady, plus the Vice President, and all Cabinet members, are in perfect condition. I have spoken with all the representatives in charge of the event, and we will be rescheduling within 30 days,” he added.
