LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has taken aim at what he described as 'repulsive' Democrats with 'loud voices', warning they are pushing people away from the party.

Speaking on the 'Sarah Silverman Podcast' on Thursday, August 7, Kimmel said cancel culture on the left has persisted since Donald Trump’s return to the White House, with some progressive figures making the party feel unwelcoming to those who have changed their political views.

Jimmy Kimmel criticizes some ‘repulsive’ Democrats for alienating voters

During the discussion, Kimmel, a vocal anti-Trump comedian who campaigned for Democrats in 2024, said the problem lies with a minority of 'loud voices' rather than the party as a whole.

"Yes. But it's not- it's not the party. It's not the majority. It's the loud voices that scare people from saying what they believe and make you think twice about a joke or whatever," Kimmel said.

He continued, "You know, a lot of their points are valid, but a lot of them are also just repulsive, in that they repel people. They go like, 'Oh, you're no fun. I don't want to be around you.' And I think that if you had to boil it down to one thing, that's kind of what it is."

Podcast host Sarah Silverman noted that some Trump supporters who now regret their vote are still being shunned by the left.

She cited Joe Rogan as an example, saying he faced attacks online for criticizing Trump’s second term after backing him in the 2024 election. Silverman called it “ironic” that the party known for promoting “inclusivity” was acting “incredibly elitist.”

Support pours in for Kimmel after remarks on Democratic Party’s direction

Social media users weighed in on Jimmy Kimmel’s comments about liberal voices driving people away from the Democratic Party.

One wrote, "Jimmy is next The Trump Effect!! Jimmy is done," while another said, "Haha, Kimmel's spittin' facts! Love, the people have spoken!"

Criticism of the party also surfaced, with posts stating, "Democratic Party turning into the Democratic Communist Party is what's driving people away" and "The Democrat party has been hijacked by ultra Liberal activists. Good luck in turning it around."

Others welcomed his perspective, as one user wrote, "Jimmy Kimmel's perspective is interesting, thank you for sharing this information. Can these opinions really influence how people vote?"

Another compared it to the right, commenting, "Just like repulsive MAGA scolds are driving people away from the Republican party. 3rd parties look better every day."

Jimmy Kimmel previously blamed liberal outrage for Trump’s rise

Jimmy Kimmel has long voiced frustration with what he sees as overblown liberal outrage.

In April, he argued that overly aggressive attacks on comedians helped pave the way for Trump’s presidency. "I think a lot of the outrage is completely manufactured, and it’s like, a lot of these people who are angry aren’t really angry. I think these liberals who’ve done such a good job of viciously attacking comedians are a big part of the reason why Trump is the president right now," he said.
