2013 - 2015: JoJo Siwa's debut in 'Dance Moms'
JoJo Siwa appeared on reality TV for the first time as a contestant on the second season of Abby Lee Miller's show 'Abby's Ultimate Dancing Competition' at nine years old. JoJo made her 'Dance Moms' debut in 2015 and was a part of seasons 5 and 6.
2016: JoJo started working with Nickelodeon
JoJo began working with Nickelodeon in 2016 after appearing on reality TV with in a minor role in 'The Thundermans.' The musician released her debut track, 'Boomerang,' in the same year. JoJo's 'Boomerang' achieved gold status in the United States in February 2017.
2017: JoJo received Favorite Viral Music Artist at Nickelodeon's 2017 Kids' Choice Awards
JoJo soon began to explode in the entertainment business. She recorded two more singles, 'Kid in a Candy Store' and 'Hold the Drama,' along with making appearances on several other TV shows. She also launched a line of her trademark JoJo Bows. JoJo also received the Nickelodeon 2017 Kids' Choice Awards' Favorite Viral Music Artist trophy.
2018 - 2019: JoJo released her debut EP 'D.R.E.A.M. The Music'
Along with the release of her debut EP, 'D.R.E.A.M. The Music,' Jojo starred in the Nickelodeon original film 'Blurt.' JoJo launched the 'D.R.E.A.M.' Tour and also released her second EP 'Celebrate.' She demonstrated at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards that a badass never goes out of style with her shades. The Kardashian-Jenner family also paid JoJo a special visit on her star-studded Sweet 16 in 2019.
2020: JoJo released 'JoJo's Rockin' Christmas'
Besides temporarily dying her blonde hair brunette, JoJo held a number of performances for fans over social media during the coronavirus shutdown and released 'JoJo's Rockin' Christmas.' She participated in 'The Masked Singer,' and her YouTube career also kept going strong. JoJo came out on Instagram in 2020, sporting a shirt that said, "Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever."
2021: JoJo came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community
The singer revealed that several projects were in the works, such as a Peacock reality series and a brand-new original film that debuted in August 2021. She also revealed her girlfriend Kylie Prew to her fans and came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. "She never cares what the internet said about us. It's nice to have somebody in my life like that," JoJo said of Kylie at the time to People.
2022: JoJo debuts new haircut
In order to sport the bob in 2022, JoJo chopped off her famous ponytail. The 'Dance Moms' star also assumed the position of a judge in Fox's parody of 'So You Think You Can Dance?' JoJo's fans responded to the big reveal with a plethora of thoughts and amusing jokes. "That’s not jojo. That’s joejoe," someone wrote, per Billboard.
2023: JoJo revealed not being in a relationship since 2022
After 'Dance Moms,' the actress' love life and other endeavors have kept her in the news. JoJo disclosed in a November 2023 interview with People that she hasn't been in a relationship since 2022. The then 20-year-old performer acknowledged that her romantic life frequently got in the way of her work. JoJo had previously stated that she was "as single as a pringle" in a July 2023 episode of 'The Viall Files' podcast.
2024: JoJo Siwa embraced bold look at 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards
The singer is currently in her 'bad girl' phase! JoJo also released the first track of her next album 'Karma.' She attended the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles in April of 2024 wearing an eye-popping black-and-silver ensemble and dramatic eye makeup reminiscent of Gene Simmons of Kiss. JoJo discussed how she's moving on despite receiving backlash for her new appearance at the 2024 iHeartRadio Awards. "It’s been fun. It’s been criticized, that’s for sure," she stated to E! News.
