Celebrity jeweler Neil Lane reveals the heartfelt backstory of Joan Vassos' bauble
Joan Vassos' custom Neil Lane Couture ring is a handmade platinum ring with an emerald-cut diamond centerpiece, flanked by two tapered diamond baguettes and surrounded by an impressive 56 round brilliant-cut diamonds in the jeweler's distinctive style.
The sparkler weighs four carats in total. It also has Lane's signature, a design mainstay for the famous jewelry designer who has spent decades creating iconic custom pieces for the 'Bachelor' series.
Lane took inspiration from the Art Deco movement of the 1920s to create the ring.
"To celebrate their shared future, I knew exactly the ring design that would perfectly symbolize Joan and Chock’s undeniable connection," told the jewelry designer to People.

Lane, who had known Vassos before her appearance on 'The Golden Bachelorette', was inspired to create the ring by the bride-to-be's "sophistication," "elegance," and "integrity," which he claimed was particularly evident when she unexpectedly left the competition in the third week of 'The Golden Bachelor' because of a family issue.
"I wanted to make a ring that was really classic," shared the celebrity designer, adding that he didn't want to use too many diamonds, even though Joan's rock is one of the "bigger rings" he's made, but rather showcase the gems in a way that was "harmonious" and elevated.
According to Lane, Chock was "besotted" with the design and knew it was the one. "He looked at the ring, he thought of her. It was just one of those things that was kismet. I think he understood the vibrations and the energy that went into that ring."

As the pair starts their new chapter together, Lane is sending them nothing but love and best wishes. The "trifecta: the couple, the ring, and the great love" is how he described their "magical" trip.
"This ring’s show-stopping beauty perfectly encapsulates Joan’s journey as the first-ever Golden Bachelorette and I wish her and Chock nothing but the best as they move into the next phase of their relationship together," stated Lane.
