Joanna Gaines prepares her son Drake to head off to college

On Thursday, August 8, HGTV star Joanna Gaines, 46, posted a heartwarming photo on Instagram as her 18-year-old son Drake prepared to head off to college for the fall. In the photo, Gaines, wearing a yellow baseball cap and large sunglasses, embraces her son, who wraps his arms around her.

Gaines captioned the post, "Second year in college... saying goodbye doesn't get easier. Lots of love to all the parents sending their kids off to school this season 🤍."

Joanna and her husband, Chip Gaines, 49, are also parents to four other children: sons Duke, 15, and Crew, 6, and daughters Ella, 17, and Emmie, 13.

The proud mom also revealed that Duke had passed his driving test, sharing a photo of him signing paperwork while Chip took a selfie. The video ended with Joanna waving goodbye to her newly licensed driver as he drove away, with her caption reading, "Third time doing this and it still makes mama cry. #16."
