LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ayo Edebiri hosted the February 3 episode of 'Saturday Night Live' alongside musical guest Jennifer Lopez and addressed hurling insults at the 'On The Floor' singer in the past.

While Edebiri has been sweeping the current awards season for her performance in the critically acclaimed dramedy 'The Bear,' Lopez is preparing for the launch of her ninth studio album, 'This Is Me…Now'.

The episode signifies the 'Bottoms' actress' hosting debut on 'SNL'. On the other hand, Lopez has graced the show multiple times, first appearing as a musical guest in 2000.

She then took on dual roles as host and musical guest during episodes in 2001 and 2010 and returned to perform in 2019.

Edebiri described hosting the NBC comedy sketch show for the first time as a "dream come true," as per HuffPost

Ayo Edebiri took jabs at Jennifer Lopez's Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show on a podcast

During her appearance on the 'Scam Goddess' podcast in 2020, Edebiri said, "Today I was actually thinking about one of my favorite scams of all time because JLo is performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Her whole career is one long scam."

When the host of the podcast, Laci Mosley, implied that JLo might not be fully aware of her own vocal capabilities, the 'Bottoms' actress responded, "Well, that's the thing. She thinks she's on multiple tracks, but it's not her."

She further added, "I think she thinks that she's still good even though, like, she's not singing for most of these songs."

Weighing in on the claims that the star used ghost singers for her tracks, Edebiri remarked, "A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, 'JLo didn't have time to make it to the studio,' like, JLo was busy," she added. "It's like, 'Doing what?' Not singing, obviously."

Ayo Edebiri says she was '24 and stupid' while addressing her insults to Jennifer Lopez on 'Saturday Night Live'

Edebiri utilized her time on 'Saturday Night Live' to acknowledge her previous mocking remarks about Lopez.

During a sketch, she portrayed a contestant on a game show titled 'Why’d You Say It?', where participants are questioned about their reasons for posting negative comments online.

Playing the character, Edebiri stated, "Okay. We get it. It’s wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid."

She continued, "But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online."

While Lopez wasn't a part of any of the sketches, she was seen beside the 'Bottoms' actress in a promo and was heard saying, "I am really excited. I love your show," to which Edebiri responded, "I love your everything," as per Variety

One wrote, "She's actually brilliant," while another said, "Smart on her, smart on SNL."

A person remarked, "And it’s a scandal 99% of people don’t know about or don’t care. SNL has to stop lifting their entire show from Twitter trending topics," and someone else added, "Glad you translated. I was not the target audience for this joke!"

"I love the way Ayo RESPECTFULLY addressed this in order to clear the air, & it was HELLA funny Job well done. #SNL And kudos to JLo for being a good sport about it," expressed an individual.

A user opined, "It wasn't mean it was her giving her opinion on what she's heard with her own ears. She struggled to sing her new song just a few minutes ago. I like JLO, but she has not worked on her vocals after all these years."

"Is JLo getting a public apology from her tho????" quipped one more.

A fan of Lopez penned, "I'm sure Jennifer was gracious to Ayo despite her shortcomings. And let's see if we still hear the name Ayo in 5 years. Jennifer's got nothing to prove to anyone, even if some ppl don't feel she is talented."
