WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden appears to have been considering endorsing major changes to the US Supreme Court as some of its recent decisions have stirred numerous controversies, according to Fox News.

The development was first shared by The Washington Post, and the changes being looked into include proposals for legislation to establish term limits for the justices and an enforceable ethics code.

The incumbent has long resisted heralding any change to the highest court in the country. However, calls for reform have continued to grow from his supporters following the ethics scandal surrounding Justice Clarence Thomas, as well as controversial decisions by the court on issues such as abortion and federal regulatory powers.

Back in 2022, SCOTUS overturned Roe v Wade, leading to an outcry for safeguarding women's right to abortion and healthcare.

In early July, the conservative justices ruled in favor of Donald Trump, granting presidents complete immunity for all official actions undertaken during their time in office.

According to a transcript of a call obtained by The Washington Post, Biden stated, "I’m going to need your help on the Supreme Court because I’m about to come out — I don’t want to prematurely announce it — but I’m about to come out with a major initiative on limiting the court … I’ve been working with constitutional scholars for the last three months, and I need some help."

Many of the changes that are being considered by the POTUS would reportedly need congressional approval. The publication further shared that Biden was still undecided about whether he should resort to constitutional amendments to eliminate broad immunity for presidents and other constitutional officeholders.

Internet slams Joe Biden as he considers SCOTUS reforms

Some netizens sounded alarm as they learned President Joe Biden was mulling over major changes regarding the US Supreme Court.

"Threat to democracy?" pointed out Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren. Another added, "You can’t change the courts or laws just because it’s not in your favor! Democrats are a serious problem in this country?"

"Unconstitutional... If something is unconstitutional, it's on his to-do list," stated someone else. An individual remarked, "If you don't agree with the courts, restructure them until they fall in line."

"Seems kinda desperate, at best," noted one more. Another person expressed, "Even more reason not to vote for Biden. When the law doesn’t work in their favor, the court is wrong. Smdh."
