MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: President Joe Biden stated on Monday, July 15 that he is back 'on the horse' in the face of intense criticism over his mental health and that he will not debate Donald Trump before their planned September encounter.

On being asked by NBC News's Lester Holt if he would accept Donald Trump's offer to debate again in the coming weeks, the President said he wasn't interested, even after his dismal performance against the former president in the June debate, stated the New York Post.

Joe Biden refuses to debate Donald Trump before September's face-off

Joe Biden told Lester Holt, "I’m going to debate him when we agreed to debate and I’m going to debate him in September." Notably, on September 10, Trump and Biden will square off in their last presidential debate.

Holt asked Biden, "Is there a sense of wanting to get back on the horse?" to which Biden answered, "I’m on the horse, where have you been. I’ve done 22 major events, met thousands of people, overwhelming crowds, a lot’s happening. I’m on the horse."

After Biden's poor performance in his June 27 debate against Trump, doubts about his chances of winning reelection remain. Biden's performance raised concerns about his suitability as the nation's leader. He has even been asked to withdraw by more than a dozen Democrats in Congress, but he has stated he won't do so.

Biden said during the NBC interview, "What I’m doing is going out and demonstrating to the American people that I have command of all my faculties, that I don’t need notes, I don’t need teleprompters, I can go out and answer any questions."

Internet mocks Joe Biden for refusing to debate Donald Trump before September showdown

Many people on the internet trolled Joe Biden as he stated during the NBC interview that he would not be debating with Donald Trump before their scheduled September face-off.

Some said he would perform even worse than before whereas some believed that he was afraid to face Trump. A user wrote on X, "Joe Biden is admitting not only is he not up to the job. But, the next debate he could do worse."

A user stated, "Biden is afraid to debate President Trump," while one added, "I think Biden won't debate Trump before September because that means then he has to do another debate in September. And Biden wants to do as few debates against Trump as possible."

A person also said, "This doesn’t look good. Biden really needs to show he can at least hang with debating Trump. He already said he couldn’t wait to debate him in September," whereas one mentioned, "He needs a month to practice."
