WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden was reportedly "irritated" by former President Barack Obama and other party leaders for being involved in talks about his exit from the 2024 race. The 83-year-old, who is recovering from Covid-19, was frustrated with the intense Democratic opposition, reports The New York Times.

Dozens of lawmakers demanded Biden step down from his reelection bid after he flunked the first presidential debate with former President Donald Trump last month, which reflected his declining cognitive skills. His closest allies, like Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, did not publicly oppose Biden, whose campaign remained firm on staying in the race.

However, recent reports suggested both shifted their support from the president. Recently, the Washington Post reported that the 44th president was pressuring his former vice president to drop out due to the narrow possibility of beating Trump. Pelosi purportedly made a similar comment in a private conversation that the polling data was not in favor of the incumbent.

Joe Biden sees Barack Obama as 'puppet master behind the scenes'

The scathing report claimed that Joe Biden considered the recent media leaks were being orchestrated to pressure him into stepping aside. According to sources, Biden viewed Nancy Pelosi as the "main instigator" and Barack Obama, with whom he is known to share a rapport, is "a puppet master behind the scenes."

Author and investigative journalist Carl Bernstein recently said that Biden "feels abandoned" and "the word abandoned was used several times in discussions that I've had with people in the White House," as per Newsweek.

Obama was a staunch backer of the incumbent when he first grabbed the Democratic ticket to run for the White House in 2020. In addition, he had done nothing to quell the calls for his former VP's exit from the race amidst the surging reports suggesting the 44th POTUS was working in the background to pressure him for the same.

Nevertheless, Biden insisted on continuing his reelection bid in a statement released on July 19.  "I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week to continue exposing the threat of Donald Trump's Project 2025 agenda while making the case for my own record and the vision that I have for America: one where we save our democracy, protect our rights and freedoms and create opportunity for everyone," his statement read.

Internet ridicules Joe Biden for being irritated with Barack Obama

Netizens brutally mocked Biden as an NY Times report said he was "irritated" with Obama for allegedly mounting pressure on him to step down.

"This is becoming a house of cards," a user wrote.

"You reap what you sow Joe," another remarked.

"Frankenstein’s monster is out for revenge," joked a third user.

"Joey, what happened with all your buddies?" Read a mocking response.

"So having a puppet master was fine until the puppet wanted to cut the strings…," another person added.

"Does this mean Scranton Joe will take back his best friend bracelet from Barack?" someone else asked.

"Well, he's lucid enough to know who's sticking the knife in his back," an individual chimed in.

"Biden ran on 'Trump is the worst person in the world.' Funny how things turned out. Biden is like that quart of spoiled milk in the fridge. You have to throw it away. It's almost as though Democrats' own rage ran around to bite them on the ....," another user commented below Newsweek's article.
