'Playing the silent game': Obama criticized for remaining quiet on reports claiming he's ditching Biden in 2024 election

WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Barack Obama has remained silent as of now in response to rumors that he is attempting, "behind the scenes," to disqualify President Joe Biden from the 2024 presidential contest.

Many media outlets published stories on Obama's purported efforts on Thursday morning, July 11. Politico, for example, claimed that actor George Clooney had given the former president a "heads-up" about his damaging New York Times guest essay in which he called on Biden to withdraw.

"While Obama did not encourage or advise Clooney to say what he said, he also didn’t object to it," the report said.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough went a step further, stating on 'Morning Joe', a favorite program of Joe Biden, that "what's going on behind the scenes is the Biden campaign and many Democratic officials do believe that Barack Obama is quietly working behind the scenes to orchestrate this."

Barack Obama remains quiet after report claimed he knew about George Clooney's essay beforehand

Although a close aide to Barack Obama declined to comment on the reports, Fox News cited the former president's endorsement of Joe Biden from the fundraiser in Los Angeles that was the focus of George Clooney's opinion piece, as well as Biden's underwhelming performance in the first presidential debate earlier this month.

Obama has stayed silent in public as a number of his close allies and former staff members, such as former advisor David Axelrod and the "Obama bros," a trio of close advisors who were frequently referred to by that moniker during his time in the White House, have intensified their calls for the president to resign.

Netizens reacted to the rumors swirling around Barack Obama's attempt to disqualify Joe Biden from the upcoming presidential race.

One X (formerly Twitter) user penned, "Obama playing the silent game while rumors swirl? 2024 just got even more interesting!"

Another said, "Obama is a crook." "Obama is the little man behind the scenes!" remarked one.
