WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent interview, President Joe Biden seemed to joke that he could take a swing at reporters who questioned him about his age, claiming that he was the only person physically capable of carrying out the duties of the office.

Biden had a long interview with Time Magazine at the White House last month, which was released on Tuesday, June 4. One even questioned Biden's ability to perform the job "as an 85-year-old man," implying that many Americans would view him as "too old to lead" if he were to win a second term.

Joe Biden said he 'can do it better than anybody'

"I can do it better than anybody you know. You’re looking at me, I can take you too," Biden told Time, including Washington bureau chief Massimo Calabresi and editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs. Biden, presumably joking, stated that he never thought about giving up on running again due to his advanced age and provided a message for those Americans who are concerned about it.

"Watch me. Look, name me a president that’s gotten as much done as I've gotten done in my first three and a half years. When all of you wrote in Time magazine I couldn't get any of it done. When you told me there's no pay, no way, no way he can get a trillion-plus dollar bill done in terms of, to deal with infrastructure, where there's no way he gets $368 billion for dealing with the environment, where there's no way I could get the legislation passed on," Biden said.

"I remember when I was heading to Taiwan, excuse me, to South Korea, to reclaim the chips industry that we had gotten $865 billion in private-sector investment, private-sector investments since I’ve been in," he continued, as per Fox News. "Name me a president who’s done that," Biden added.

Time fact-checked the comment, noting the White House "announced an $866 billion private-sector investment in May, not when Biden went to South Korea in 2022. The funding was also meant for initiatives across clean energy and manufacturing industries, and is not limited to just the chips industry."

Joe Biden's age and mental capacity have been questioned throughout his presidency

Biden's age and mental capacity have been questioned throughout his presidency and worries about his chances of being re-elected significantly increased after Special Counsel Robert Hur's report earlier this year revealed that Biden was in possession of classified material.

According to the report, during interviews regarding his biography, the president was unable to recall important details such as the year his son Beau died or the position he held as vice president. The report also said that since a jury would consider Biden to be a "sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory," Hur should not file charges against him despite his "willful" possession of classified documents.

Biden, who will turn 82 in November, is the oldest president in US history. His presumptive general election opponent, former President Donald Trump, will turn 78 later this month.

Internet says 'Biden is not fit physically or mentally'

Netizens also mocked the president following his interview. One X user wrote, "That is a joke! Biden is not fit physically or mentally!" Another added, "Because he knows that the SS can’t let anyone hurt him." "That's what people on drugs say," one wrote while another user penned,

"Every time he opens his mouth the 'stuff' keeps coming out." "I can’t wait till this cringe filled nightmare ends!!" said a user. "Tough guy!!! HaHaHa!!!" mocked another.
