Joe Buck recalls Travis Kelce turning into 'a puddle' as Taylor Swift walked down the aisle

DENVER, COLORADO: Joe Buck has shared intimate details from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, offering a personal account of the star-studded ceremony held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, July 3, where Adam Sandler officiated.

His recollections come as several sports personalities have reflected on attending the highly discussed celebration, with many describing it as one of the most memorable events they have witnessed.

Speaking about the ceremony, Buck described the emotional atmosphere surrounding the couple’s vows and Kelce’s reaction throughout the wedding. “Tom Cruise for 20 minutes was better than any part of the entire night to me, other than watching them get married," He joked. 

He continued, "And you probably read all the details about it, but their vows were long, they were really well-written, they were funny, they were sweet, they were emotional. Travis was a puddle watching his nieces come down the little ramp that they built."

Buck continued by recalling Kelce’s reaction as Swift entered the ceremony, “And then, you know, when she walked out, he was a puddle. I mean, it felt, first of all, they were really getting married. It wasn't like it was just a ceremonial thing. Like, they really felt like they were getting married, meaning that they hadn't been married before."

He concluded, "And then, I think when they took everybody's phone, and everybody could relax.” Before the wedding, Buck had already spoken publicly about the duo while covering an NFL game. During a Football matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints, broadcasting partner Troy Aikman referred to Swift as Kelce’s “missus.”

“You know they’re not married, right?” Buck responded, prompting Aikman to reply, “I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that.” He then explained that his daughters had warned him not to joke about the couple’s relationship.

He stated, “I mean, it happens. My daughters have warned me multiple times today, ‘Dad, I know you think you’re funny. Don’t make any jokes.’”

Stephen A Smith also shared his experience attending Swift and Kelce’s wedding during the Thursday, July 23, episode of 'First Take' on ESPN. “It was an absolutely fabulous, fantastic wedding. It was very touching, very heartfelt,” he said.

He continued, “All a bunch of wonderful people was there. It’s the greatest wedding I’ve ever seen. It was at Madison Square Garden in New York City, it was spectacular. That much, I will say, and I was honored to be there.”

Smith then added, “I had an absolute blast. It was phenomenal. Greatest wedding I’ve ever seen.” He also explained that Kelce invited him to the ceremony because of the long professional relationship they have built through the NFL, saying he considers the Chiefs star his “brother from another mother.”

He also spoke positively about Swift, describing her as “wonderful” and noting that he had taken his daughters to two of her concerts. Despite attending the wedding, he declined to reveal private details, explaining, “I just think it’s for them to do.”

The couple began dating in 2023, after which the 'Opalite' singer regularly attended the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s games. During a January 2024 episode of First Take, Smith defended her against criticism over the attention she received while attending NFL games.

“It’s not like she used the games to bump up the concerts. Oh no! Those kids were going to her concerts whether the NFL was promoting her or not,” he said, later describing her Eras Tour performances as “absolutely positively phenomenal, off the chain.”
