HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA: Senator John Fetterman told Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to "deal with it" after she criticized the Democratic Party over a government shutdown vote on Friday, March 21.

During a Las Vegas rally on Thursday, March 20, Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd, "This isn’t just about Republicans. We need a Democratic Party that fights harder for us, too."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's comments came a week after 10 Senate Democrats, including John Fetterman, joined with Republicans to advance a continuing resolution to keep the government from shutting down, according to the New York Post.

Fetterman took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "Fight “harder”—a stunt that would have harmed millions and plunged us into chaos. We kept our government open. Deal with it."

Ocasio-Cortez is not the only Democrat criticizing her party in the aftermath of the CR vote. Rep Ilhan Omar told attendees at a town hall event in Minnesota on Thursday while referring to the CR vote, "I am disgusted that several Senate Democrats gave up our first point of leverage."

She added that Democrats "have been obsessed with figuring out the perfect message and not doing the perfect thing."

"I do think that there needs to be sort of a come to Jesus moment for Democrats," Omar said.

She added that some in the blue party "want to bring a knife to a gunfight and are not rising up to the moment."

Rep Glenn Ivey argued earlier this week that Senate Democrats need to overhaul their leadership amid the CR vote.

He told his constituents during a town hall in the eastern suburbs of Washington, DC, "I thought it was critical to make sure that we block that bill. I was deeply disappointed that [Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY] voted with the Republicans."

He added, "I respect Chuck Schumer. I think he’s had a great, long-standing career. He’s done a lot of great things. But I’m afraid that it may be time for the Senate Democrats to pick new leadership as we move forward."

Internet slams John Fetterman as he tells Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to 'deal with it'

Many Internet users slammed John Fetterman as he told Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to "deal with it" after she criticized the Democratic Party following a government shutdown vote.

A user wrote on X, "You’re wrong. And I’m a constituent of yours, and a long time voter of yours that’s going to vote against you, next time you’re up for reelection. Deal with that."

Another added, "Honestly, John.. for a man who is living on grace after a stroke, you sure do engage in truly bad-faith arguments and align against the marginalized. I simply wouldn't play with God the way you do, friend."

A person also stated, "John, you’re spot on about so much, but you’ve missed the mark terribly on this take…" whereas one mentioned, "We need US Democratic senators that fight harder for us, not sell out out to the MAGA republicans."

A user also wrote, "Honestly, why are you even a Democrat? I don’t agree with a lot of of the things you stand for, but you are clearly not one of them."

Another said, "Instead of defending you and supporting you through your health crisis, we should have told you just to 'deal with it.'"
